When is it Too Cold?

How cold is too cold to got outside and play? I am from California and the kids are use to hot/warm weather. When it gets in the 50's 60's they don't want to go outside or sometimes they do but have runny noses after. What are your limits.

I take them out at 30 to about 78 taking into consideration wind chill and humidity.

Here in MN I dont take them out unless its over 30' - although if the sun is shining and its below 30 but "feels" warmer than 30 we'll go out ! They need outside as much as possible ( and so do I !! )

My cold cut off is around 35/40. I despise the cold, being bundled up in a coat and hat and gloves myself, and I don't have licensing breathing down my neck about when I take them out. Plus, my crew is pretty young (3 yo and 2.5 yo and the rest under 2) and there's just not much they can do bundled up in their own coats and hats and gloves.

Heat, I will take them out for at least a while in almost any heat--we don't tend to get above 95 much though. Plus we don't have to worry about shoes and things and can toss them in the wading pool when it's hot.

from 30-95 or so. Often when it's 30 we don't stay out for long. When it's 95 we have water activities available.

We go out until it's below 20 unless the wind speed exceeds 15mph then we don't go out below 40. Between 20 and 40 we are not out as long but even 20 minutes outside helps. Our upper limit is 90 and we do water activities from 70 up.

I use a close version of this. I first decide if it is comfortable for my staff assistant and I. She has asthma and is protected by the disability act so I have to consider if she is capable of tolerating the weather. I don't like hot weather so we don't go out if it's too hot for me.

If it works for my staff assistant and I am comfortable THEN I go by this chart when considering if the kids can do it.
