I teach a group of 12 4yo children and while I generally have a handle on it, they all seem to need a LOT of attention! I frequently have 2 or three children trying to ask me something at once and it gets overwhelming! How can I get them to be more independent and wait until i am done with one child before getting in my face?

We have a rule that if you want to talk to the teacher, and she is talking with someone else, you put your hand on the teachers side hip area and then you will be next. To acknowledge that we are aware, we put our hand over theirs, and that way they know we are going to talk to them next. It takes some practice, but it works great.
