Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>Do You Redirect "Nosy" Questions?

Just curious.

Stuff like "what is dcb doing in the bathroom" or "did he pee on himself?" "why is dcg in timeout?"

My answers range from "I don't know" "he's taking care of x's business" "please be in charge of you only"...

What do you do with nosy questions?

If Johnny is asking I say, "Johnny worry about Johnny!" every time. It has really cut down on the amount some of my nosiest kids have questions about other children (there are 2). The others, it has cut out the nosy questioning completely.

Ditto. My kids can finish the statement "you worry about you - Miss x will worry about everyone else".

"It's not your business.".......which I must say a lot, because 2 year old dcg said it to her mom when she asked her what she was doing!

Oh my goodness, I have a 2 yr old dcg who always is asking "what happened" every single time I talk to someone. I ignore but she will repeat it 20 x before finally giving up, some times I"ll say, xxx doesn't need to worry about xxx, I took care of it. or I'll say don't worry go play. Oh and not only does she ask the question but she's very loud has a loud deep voice so it makes it more irritating, but I'd much rather have that than other stuff .

This is what we do! We also have a little one who asks "What happened?" all the time. ( She covers her ears if she thinks someone did something wrong and we don't yell and I am 99% sure neither of her parents do either!) She is the nervous type so I just say, "everything's fine!, nothing to worry about" and she goes about her business

I have a parent that is like this. "Why isn't so and so here?" "oh, dcb (not her child) is still here. Why didn't he get picked up yet?" etc...etc...etc... It's so annoying and frustrating.

If the kids are school age I will actually tell them "It's not your business"
For the younger ones I say "worry about you, go play"
Unless of course it's something to genuinely worry about, like someone got hurt, I will just say "DCK is ok, go play"

I used to have a parent like this! You can't tell them "you worry about Mr. Smith and I'll worry about Billy."

I would say, "I can't discuss other clients with you. Sorry! "
Seriously, how rude.
