Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>So why do I get all the wack jobs?

It never fails. I posted again on facebook today about openings. And yet again I found someone who can't read I guess and called me when I posted "childcare openings all shifts" (still trying to get started again) and wanted to to know what kind of work I had shifts for. At least this time they weren't in the car with the stereo blaring. Really? If I had jobs available, I wouldn't hire these people that keep calling me. I mean call and sound like you at least can pretend to know what you are talking about.

I had that happen once. Now I put the age range I want and use the phrase "Now enrolling"

"Now enrolling" might clear it up. But some of these people make me wonder lol.

I literally laughed out loud when I read your title of this thread. I thought, "you get those types too, huh?" I get some real winners. I post my city and often times the name of my neighborhood. But I get calls from people from 4 cities away. I get calls from people looking for employment when my ad clearly states, 'Openings for children ages 6 weeks - 5 years old' Honestly, I don't know how much clearer I can get that I am looking for little kids to watch in my childcare and NOT looking for an employee. I try not to, but I have actually had so many calls back to back from people looking for a job, that I have caught myself simply saying, "Oh my God, read the ad!" and then abruptly hanging up on the caller. I really didn't mean for it to come out of my mouth, I meant to just think those words, but I guess I couldn't hold it in any longer.

I've caught myself from saying that, but wanted to so many times. I now say, "We require our employees to be able to read. " When they say they can, then I tell them to go read the ad.

Was there more to the ad than just "childcare openings all shifts" because I do read that as emoyment. A shift is work related. People these days are often hurried and only read headlines or subjects, so I can see that happening. Not the best candidate for a job, perhaps, but not everyone that applies is! Maybe add you age range, my ad says "home daycare positions available, 18 months- 5 years" Then it's clear it's for kids and not potential employees

Yes, there was more to the ad, it included some of the services I offer such as meals and snacks, preschool learning etc.
