Daycare and Taxes>Admission/Activity Costs Question
Lyss 03:30 PM 09-06-2013
I just realized today that I may be doing this incorrectly. I tried to find other threads as I'm sure this has been asked before but had no luck

When I take my group out somewhere that requires an admission fee or similar should I be paying for my DD separately? Or are her admission/fees things I can include?

I think Last year I subtracted her fees from the total but she was young and I rarely had to pay for her, maybe twice.

There is no IRS rule on this question. I assume DD means your own daughter. Is paying for your own daughter an "ordinary and necessary" expense? You could argue that your daughter contributes to the educational environment when she interacts with the day care children. On the other hand, the IRS may say that it's strictly personal. Certainly your fee is deductible. Deducting your own daughter's fee is an assertive position. Not deducting it is a conservative position.

I'd probably say it's not deductible, but I could be wrong.
