This is heartbreaking.

But it just got me thinking... The version on this article that was posted on my local news Facebook page had beaucoup comments about how this woman was a hero and aan angel...and she is all of those things. But people don't understand a lot of times....this is our JOB. We must be ready to put our lives, safety, comfort, reputation, our everything on the line at any second to protect the kids we are entrusted with. I'm sure this woman didn't have a single thought about her own safety in that moment.

I am praying for speedy recovery and the quick apprehension of the slime who hit with the shovel...I don't even understand her role in the situation.

It's unfortunate that this happened. I feel horrible for this provider and what she's been through and I genuinely hope this father (and his girlfriend) get what's coming to them.

I feel bad for this provider, too, and hope she heals quickly both physically and emotionally. I also hope the man and woman involved in the attack are caught/prosecuted.

One sentence in the report bothers me a little, though. It said, "McClure went outside the daycare where she fought with Jackson." I wonder if the provider had called the police and remained inside until they arrived, if she might have escaped further injury. I'm not trying to blame the victim; maybe there were circumstances that weren't mentioned in the article that made her feel she had no other choice but to go out and confront the two attackers but the article leaves me wondering if there could have been a better outcome had she remained inside. I also hope there were no other kids who witnessed the incident. It's bad enough his own kids had to experience that awful situation.

I wondered that, too. But the article also stated that the dad was throwing toys, including a tricycle, through the window trying to get in. Maybe by going outside, she really was just trying to protect the kids. Either way, what a horrible thing to happen.

Another article I read, mentioned that she was escorting the father out of the building.

My thought is that he was throwing things at a window probably trying to break in. She probably thought the better situation was to engage on her terms rather than react to his actions when he did gain entry and had access to the kids.

Wishing her a speedy recovery and hope these morons enjoy a long prison sentence.

Yes, very sad. As a provider, teacher, principal, bystander, parent we all have to protect the children in our care.

I found this link giving the provider's perspective and a little more detail on what happened. I hope never to be put in the position she found herself in that day!:
