Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>Does Your State Do QRS Or Other Rating System For Home Daycares?
GotKids 10:49 AM 08-25-2011
It is being piloted in my state and hasn't come to our area YET. I am worried about meeting the standards because they aren't releasing the criteria of them to people outside the pilot yet. Was it difficult to meet the requirements for you?

Has having a system like this helped your business or has it made it more difficult to get market rate pay? Do these standards mean more involvement from the state in your program like extra regulations ect?

We are in the process. I honestly hope we get there. Here is a link to the standards. http://nccic.acf.hhs.gov/poptopics/qris_systems.html

We are just now starting the youngstar program in Wisconsin. To me it was very easy to follow, we had techincal consultations to help us before they came out. ( I am accredited and have associates degree so I am automatically the highest level) but it was easy to follow!

We have star rated licenses here. You start as a 1 star and after 6 months have the option of applying for more stars. The better your program and the higher your education, the more stars you get.

When it says accredited what does that mean? Like a CDA that you can get thru Care courses???

Here is the website I went through. You pay a fee, fill out a ton of forms, take a self assesment, make sure your program is set up to cover all aspects, then have someone come out and spend the day with you. They ask you a series of questions then you get an answer if you are accredited ( which is higher then certified or licensed in my state).

For me, it means the state paid kids I get a 25% increase in pay, and am automatically a 5 star program. I am the only accredited family provider in my state whom is a 5 star as of right now!

Awww, your claim to fame just increased by two. I found three family providers in your state with 5 stars.

Good for you though to have the highest rating available!!! If (when) we get the rating system going, I hope to operate in the 5 category as well!

In our state, being accredited oly gains us a 15% increase in pay for state funded children.

I see that now! Its a brand new system and just got call today they put info in every Thursday night. I called to see why I wasnt up their yet, my "technical" consultant is the one who keeps blowing my head up saying i am the only one. LOL. I wish I was closer to the other providers who are accredited/5 star so we can "talk"
Thanks...I was trying for a 4 star, then decided to get accredited.

my state is starting the quality stars but honestly its nothing i understood yet. Except that its a rating system. I wonder if our state pay will increase also?

I have looked at the cda package thru care courses a million times but im so intimidated (sp?) about someone coming in and watching me that i stop thinking about it. I think my nerves would blow it for me!!!!

Thanks for the links
