I have a real thing for baby names. So I was thinking of what the best and worst baby names we have ever had at the daycare.

I won't ask what your worst was, at risk of it being the name of another DCP/their DD or DS, but I would like to hear everyone's favorite names past or present.

My favorites are:

Chase, for a girl. Hayden, for a girl. Finley, for a girl.

Guthrie, for a boy. Knox, for a boy.

There were two little girls at my old job who were sisters and the oldest had the prettiest name combo (first and middle): Isabella Heart; which means "beautiful heart" (she went by "Bella" before the Twilight craze but after that her parents insisted she go by Isabella) and her sister was named Giovanna (Also really pretty; went by GG for short). And there was one baby girl there named Amor (Spanish for "Love") which I thought was kinda cool and there was another girl named Sunrise (we called her "Sunny"). A girl I used to babysits name was Camila.

Most of the boys there were really common and trendy names that don't really stand out. I think the one that stood out the most for me was Finnegan (or Finn for short). A little boy I used to babysit was named Alessandro (Italian version of Alexander), his little sister couldn't pronounce his name so when he did something she didn't like she would say to him: "No, No, 'Sasho!". Eventually he would refer to himself as "Sasho" that would be a cute boy name.

Apparently Italian names are on the rise.

Worst baby boy name ever was a sibling set Maddoxx and Manngo.

MANNGO was a BOY. They pronounced it ManJo.

His brother called him Man GOO, which his parents loathed. Hysterical.

My favorite all time names, my kids have. Except dd, who I wanted to name Evelyn and call her Evie for short. My BFF used it instead when I was done having kids, so now my god daughter's name is Evie!

I don't really care for all of the trendy boy names out there. I really like traditional names, which are making a comeback around here. DS has a Charlotte, and Anne, a Ryan and a Christopher in his class. First year I had heard some of the names before.

He also has two Connors, two Gavin's, two Ayden's, one Ryder and a Navaeh.

Jelyjuan (gel-eye-jew-juan), Notorious, Portrite.... pronounced portrait, Angle... pronounced angel.... the list could go on for days.

I wanted to name DS1 Mason but, was shot down by DH and we settled with Jack. I always wanted to name a boy Jack but, it has become so common I was looking for other options...to this day I am glad we went with this good, solid, strong name! I can't imagine yelling "Mason" now instead of "Jack" when he is in trouble!

I have wanted to name a girl Charlie ever since I saw Hitchcock's "Shadow of a Doubt" in my 20's. I love, love, love that name! I loved it so much that before I was preggers with DS2 I decided even if we had a boy I would name him Charlie. Well, DH's cousin also had the same idea and even though they don't live here I couldn't name our son the same! Somehow Spencer came into play and this too fits him perfectly!

I also really liked Meredith when we were pregnant last time. It sounded really cute with our last name, which also starts with M. I too, love the classic names that are coming back. The trendy names drive me bonkers sometimes since there will be 5 of the same name at school. I wanted to avoid that with my boys and so far I think I have! I think Jack lost it's big popularity prior to my son and I don't know if Spencer was ever very popular!

Ryan or Riann was a really popular girls name in our area for awhile. I knew of 4 sibling sets of Ryan and Aaron or Rian and Erin.

There has yet to be a little boy or little girl here that I love their name. They are all extremely common/traditional (and at times pretty bizarre).
I prefer unique names, which tends to be obvious when you know my children's names.

I had three sibling boys who were Tsion (pronounced Zion), Jahai and Isaiah. LOVED those kids! Their mom was one of my best clients ever.

Once had a boy called Adali (Adda-lie). He was strange kid. Almost 5 years old, but knew nothing except his name.

"How old are you?" "Adali"
"Where do you live?" "Adali"
Are you cold?" "Adali"

Parents were both creepily weird (high). Grandma was the one who interviewed. He was only with me about 6 weeks before I asked them to leave. Parents were both druggies.

I love Charlie/Charli/Charlee for a girl. I have heard it as a nickname for Charlotte, which I really love.

lately I've heard the boy name "cash" that is just wierd. Odd has a Helen in her class. I think old names are coming back, which I love. All my kids have old middle names.

My own children have my fave boy names, though DH shot down my most favorite (Tristan). My favorite girls' name of all time is "Anna". If we'd had a daughter, that would have been her name.

I've never had any kids here with unique names, but I went to college with a girl named "Ode". I always thought that was really pretty.

I have some very interesting names in my dc that I just love! Italian, Ethiopian, Indian, Biblical, and some very traditional and some very unique American names. I don't feel comfortable listing them though because anyone familiar with my dc that read the list would know who I am!

I have a Sebastian, which is my eldest's birth name. ( born Sebastian Cain, now Gwendolyn Idris). My other children are Michael Armand (goes by his middle name), & Felix Malcolm. We really like unusual names, but not unheard of. I tend to like odder ones, like Bluebell. yes, I know, it's a cow name. I still love it. My husband hates it, but does like other names like Rook & Frost. Felix was almost Eliot Frost or Malcolm Frost, after the poets..Malcolm after the captain in Firefly. Though Solomon, Ulysses, Atticus, & Jerusalem were in there too. Salem Frost sounds like a comic book anti-hero. You should see my nameberry lists. I tend to not like the mix & match names, like pick a prefix, add a last name/suffix, & bam-name..i.e. McKenna, Rylan, etc..or the Aiden, Brayden, Jayden names.

Last summer a little boy named Mason Dash enrolled in my dc. Think "Keeping up with the Kardashians", except definitely NOT a Kardashian!!

I guess the parents couldn't come up with their own unique name

These are either daycare or children I know/knew that I like:

Kylie (Her middle name was unique, Madsen. It is her mom's maiden name). Her brothers had the same middle name also.
Carly
Niko (full name is Nicholas)
Julianna (granddaughter). I'm not crazy about others calling her Jules though.
Anne (my daughter)
Haylee (I hate the spelling but love the name. I'd spell it Hayley)
Laurel (ahem, stole it for my screen name)

An odd one was Aubrey. I like the name for a girl but this was a boy.

My three adult children are Anthony(Tony), III, Anne Elizabeth, Christopher.

Haven't had many strange ones. Some faves were
Boys: Chase, Mattox, Parker, Reef, Gatlin, Cylan, Kyree

Girls: I once had a Makenna, McKinnon, Mackinzie, and Kenzie in the same class. There's Neveah, Layla, Katherine (my all time favorite name), Reese (2nd favorite), Macon, and Zaire.

If my second ds had been a girl her name would have been Noelle Elizabeth. We ended up with two boys: Aiden Michael and Mason Leonard. We had NO idea that those names were so popular and that every time we went to the park and called for our kids 10 other little boys would turn around...
