Can I just highlight on my receipts what I used for daycare or just use every other one.it's my first year and it's stressful

I think I was told No, that it had to be separate reciept. I would suggest that you ask Tom Copeland at www.tomcopeland.com, he will know for sure.

For me though, I just deduct the meals not groceries. All my groceries are used for DC and my family, if I didn't do it this way I would have double open things like ketchup and things like milk would spoil.

I use the standard meal deductions. It works out to more of a deduction than actual cost.

But your cleaning supplies, toilet paper, papertowels, windex etc that you also buy on your grocery receipts is all deductible according to your time space percentage.

There was a post here once about someone who did that and the highlighter ink made the receipt ink break down to the point it was illegible very quickly.

I do this, then photocopy/scan the receipts weekly.

I spend more on food than standard deduction. I don't need time/space because I have separate everything so I HAVE to buy two. Everything for DC is exclusive DC use, so it works well for me. HTH!
