This is a good problem to have, but still really stressful. I am literally full right now, maybe a part time spot open. I have one that's going to be leaving soon (hopefully). The problem is, I have 2 moms that are pregnant and will need care for them. They are both part time. One child currently comes Wednesday and Fridays and the other comes Monday, Tuesday and Friday. I already have 1 full time baby that I took in anticipation of my PITA child leaving lol. Then I have another mother that I care for her little girl Thursdays and Fridays. She had a baby 8 months ago and I thought that baby was coming in September. I asked her about it then and she said oh I don't know when we're going to start him. So I went on with my business. Yesterday she asked if he coudl start and I said no I'm full right now. She got kinda pissy and said that she thought I said he could start whenever and then she said I thought you said you would have room in May. Because I'm supposed to just sit around and wait for her to bring him. GRRRR What do you do when you have too many that need care and not enough room?

To the mom of the 8 month old, I'd have told her "I did have room for him in May. Also, in June, July, August, and September, but I lost 5 months of wages holding a spot for him and you didn't bring him at the time we had agreed on, so I had to move on and stop losing money".

As far as making space-I'd keep the babies who make me money and let the others go. Full time over part time, 3 days over 2. Go where YOU come out on top.

Some parents have no clue how dc works. It's your business. What they pay you is how you live and pay your bills. It's not simply a little extra babysitting money.
I completely agree with everything the PP said. If the PT spots are working for you, that's wonderful but make sure you're not losing out on income because of it.

I think that's what it's going to boil down to is whoever is here the most. I have to take a 3 day a week versus a 2 day a week.

Alot of things can happen between now and then too. One of the moms that is pregnant, has a 2 yr old son. He is being evaluated right now. It is thought that he may be autistic. If this is the case, she may want to move him somewhere different that can help him with that.

I would try to convince the two part timers to work out their schedule to fit one spot 5 days.Let mom of 8 month know that as soon as you can you will offer the spot.Obviously shes not desperate.

That's what I'm trying to do. If I lose the one with the 8 month old oh well. I honestly did not like the tone she gave me.

Thinking about booting the one that doesn't give me a Christmas gift hahaha! One of my 2 day a weekers with a roughly 18 month old left today for the holiday and barely said Merry Christmas.
