Today I learned that one of my previous clients put their child into a daycare center that has 15 violations that include the physical abuse to the children and providers not using sound judgment. My sister who also provides care for children told me that she walked in the center and witnessed a daycare teacher pushing a child down after screaming at her. She then observed another teacher at the center use inappropriate communication to a toddler that did not want to be a part of the lesson for the day. Her parent asked her to do drop off and pick up because they charge $95 a week for transportation. Her DCP completed a walk threw and also observed a teacher hitting a child. She told the center that she did not want her child in the room with that teacher because of what she saw but did not report the information to the state.

As a provider, it breaks my heart to see children have to go through this. I do not understand why parents would still choose a center after witnessing the abuse. Also, WHY IS NO ONE REPORTING THIS TO THE STATE. I don’t care how many programs you offer such as “My Baby can Read,” or “Beka” or how nice your facility is because of francising. The reality of the fact that your staff is abusing children and should not be tolerated.

I have advised my sister to report what she has witnessed because it is wrong. I didn’t tell her that out of competition, but what is right is right and the director should know the minimum standards does not tolerate it.

I worked in 2 centers before I graduated college. I reported people for abuse and they were still working there ... 2 YEARS LATER!!! Eventually, they were gone but I believe it was because they quit. Not because they were fired.

Definitely report it. Report it to the state licensing department, report it to the director at that daycare center, and take that child out of there! They cannot guarantee that he/she will not be with any of those teachers.

I know a lot of parents that put their 2 year old kids in "big girl" school, thinking that they are going to be all ready for Kinder in 3-4 years!

Around here where we live, most of the "teachers" are doing community service, or are in the GAIN program and have no experience or schooling.
They are just made to work to keep getting their welfare benefits.
There are some teachers that are good but I have seen mostly bad.

I also have picked kids up from centers and they have all the bells and whistles.. cool toys, organized age separated rooms.. but no love

Parents just think that because they call themselves a preschool, they must be better than " someones house". It breaks my heart to see the abuse that goes on around here too.

How sad!

Report ALL abuse.
Not all centers are bad.
Not all home daycares are perfect.
Sigh.....
