Soap Clouds

http://www.ourbestbites.com/2012/04/...die-tub-soaps/

First an experiment...then make a gift!

i've done this before and it's wild! I love the idea of then going on to make it into pretty colored soaps.

Thanks for this post. I can't wait to try this. I plan on doing the science part then making soap for Mother's Day. What do you use for the color for the molded soap? It said to use food coloring but wouldn't that stain the skin? I thought I would try liquid watercolor that is washable.

very cool..... I think I want to do it and give it as a big cloud - not the shaped/colored soaps!

!! We have a giant tub of 101 cookie cutters that we use here for random sorting activities, this is a fantastic way to put those bad boys to use!

You can use soap coloring, you can pick it up at your local craft store, or even possibly Wal-Mart now. It doesn't stain skin or any surface, and it's pretty cheap too from what I remember. I haven't bought it in over a year because it seriously lasts FOREVER. We use it for bath salts that we make for Christmas gifts. Also, you can buy soap scents if you wanted to pick up some unscented soap and make it a smell that mom would love.

When I read cool things like this, a teensy little part of me wishes my little ones (19 and 20 mo) would hurry up and get older so that I could do fun stuff with them.

you can do this with your littles- just watch out for the eyes and eating it. Highly supervise the activity and you should be fine. I tried it out first.... and plan to do it with my little crew. It works! It is fun. Tee hee, good clean fun. When you break it apart just use something big enough to catch it all. I used one of those big plastic colorful tubs.
