Last night I went into the calendar portion under "tools" to use the calendar manager section. I have used this in the past to keep track of my hours/cleaning/class time/ect. When I tried to use it last night, I could get nothing to type in the day portions. The day calendar is one you can type in but I really wanted to be able to use the monthly one.

Does anyone know if I'm doing something wrong or can you just not use the monthly one to type in daily.

I've never used the calendar part. Sorry. I just usually go in and enter my time and activiy under the time/space section.

Yes. It only takes a second. I just go to time on other activities, click add entry, it defaults to current date, enter how long I did something, what the category is, any notes about it and save. Probably takes just as long as it would to enter it on the calendar and then I don't have to transfer it over for tax time.

So how do you figure your time/space for cleaning? I'm doing as Tom says and if it takes me more then 1 hour, I'm writing it down.

When I clean in the evenings, it is for childcare (the school room, kitchen, livingroom, bathroom) but do you say your cleaning 100% for the childcare as you have to have everything ready for them in the morning?

Tom did say not to claim something that you would do if you didn't have the childcare. Well, I would still clean so thats where I'm confused on the claiming portion. Would you just do like a 50/50 or 100%.

Any help you can give would be great. Next Dec. 31st I just want to hit a button and be done for the year!

I don't think I'm very helpful. I have a bathroom, 3 rooms, and an entryway filled with cubbies and a shoe rack for the kids completely dedicated to daycare on my lower level. The kitchen is, obviously, a time space percentage issue but I never say when I cleaned that in Minute Menu. I just don't. I DO claim the 4 areas that get cleaned daily (vacuumed, mopped, sterilized) that are 100% daycare space.

How often would you clean the areas that are shared if you DID NOT have a daycare? Every few days? If you are cleaning it every day right now, I would claim 1/2 of the time.

Good question-I have done childcare for the 17 years we have lived here so not sure how I would clean if I didn't do childcare-

I'm sure I would do it as I do now BUT not to the extent as now. Everything wouldn't be wiped down/sanitized/sprayed down/as it is now. Does that make sense. The schoolroom would actually be a family room, so it would be a totally different set up/people wouldn't be back and forth in my livingroom everyday and I wouldn't be preparing all the food in my kitchen to clean up as I do now.

Hmm, with Minute Menu I do it differently.

I go into Accounting>Time/Space Percentage>Time Other Activities>Add entry

That's how I keep track of my hours doing business related things. It then calculates my time/space% by combining the time spent doing business entries, the square footage that I use and the attendance records.

I didn't even know there was another way

I didn't know you could do it the way you guys are! I think its neat that MM has options though for us all to use! I just never understand the % of what to put down?

The way that I do it automatically figures out the percent for you.

Then as I enter in my expenses I just have to mark whether they are time/space % or 100% business and it automatically deducts the % from time/space items (like toilet paper/cleaning supplies etc).

First of all I want to thank you from the bottom of my to those that helped me figure this out! I never had gone into the "Time/Space" section! Its a whole new world and so easy. I'm one that doesn't do technology easily so I'm always scared to go into uncharted territory for me. I just don't push buttons easily even if they are right there for me to.

MV-I never know what to figure out out the business % for things like paper products. I always record it under 100% and then my tax lady helps me from there.

Well I'm off to snoop around in this new area! Thank you all again for helping me with this-

OK, 1 more question wise ones of MM!

In the area where you can track your hours of operation (heaven to me!) how do you do this.

The first option: Hours from Attendance Records

I charge whether child is here or not. So my last one that leaves at 5:30, if they aren't here, I still mark them here even if they are absent per my contract. My hours wouldn't be correct as I wouldn't be working till 5:30.

Second option: Hours of operation put into facility hours

I don't see this working either as I work till 5:30 but if I have my last one leave early it won't be correct.

How do you ladies put your hours in then? I seriously can't believe these have been here the WHOLE time and I never knew. It a whole new world for me-

Oh my goodness, never mind. I figured it out and I'm going to be over the top tracking everything this year!

I'm so glad I buy this program on top of doing the one the food program does-

I believe Tom has always told us to use hours from attendance records. In that section you are only counting the hours kids are actually present not when they are scheduled to be there.

You will be even happier when tax time comes. If you keep up on entering everything, all you have to do is print a bunch of reports in order to either complete your taxes or take to your tax person.
