What temperature would you consider a fever? I consider a fever 100 and higher. What about you? At what temperature do you exclude from care??

Mom says, "Some people consider anything higher than 100.3 a fever, and dd is only 100".

I don't know how to respond to that. Her daughter is home sick, she started antibiotics this afternoon.

To which I would respond "that's nice" or if I were feeling especially crabby I might say "but I am not "some people" I am the BOSS and I say 100 so what I say goes."

my state regulation state a fever of 100 or higher the child must be sent home and isolated until the parent arrives.

I call parents when it is 99 and the child looks ill. I say it is going up so just giving you a heads up get yourself finished up because they have to leave at 100 actually if it is 99 and they have any other symptoms they have to go according to regulation.

I believe my contract says 100.4. Even for low grade fevers though, I will call parents to give them a heads up, half the time they come get them any way.

Any thing over 100. And they must be SYMPTOM free for 24 hours before they can return. Not just fever free.

My contract says 100.

The children in my care rarely get fevers, but when they do, they are clearly not feeling well. Even at a temp of 99 I notice the children tend to be more restive, lots of breaks from play and cuddles on the couch, etc.

I consider 100.0 and above to be a fever.

Parents keep child home until symptom free for 24 hours.

If child is sent home from care, they must remain home until they are symptom free for 48 hours.

Symptom free means WITHOUT the use of any OTC medications or pain reducers.

Wow mine says 101. I think that is what we are told at the doc office to. I wonder if that has changed.

100.0 is what is stated in my policies but I've called parents for 99.8 and 99.9 before.

I checked regulations to be sure and it says 100. I told her she cannot return until she is symptom free for 48 hours.

101 but it depends on how they are acting. You can tell when they are feeling horrible. Some kids run high because they are so active.
