Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>Starting a Preschool in Virginia

My husband and I will be moving to Virginia in July and I am very interested in starting a preschool in my home or finding a space to rent and start a preschool. I have my Bachelor's and Master's of Education in Early Childhood Education. I have taught preschool before and up to 2nd grade. I'm not interested in having a daycare, but want a preschool. I'm thinking of having two classes a day for 2 1/2 hours, with different age groups. Probably a M/W/F group and a T/TH group.

I was wondering if any of you know if I need a license in VA for a preschool, especially where it is not a daycare? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In most cases you will still need a license just because you will be regularly taking in a group of children at once who are not all in the same family. It also depends on how many kids you are aloud to watch at once unlicensed (https://www.daycare.com/virginia/). Plus I would think that most parents would prefer it if you are licensed or had all the required paperwork.

This woman started doing preschool in her home and eventually branched out into a center. She had a FCC license but only did preschool.
