I know I posted something about this earlier this month, but I am stuck! I thought I figured it out, but I didn't. How do you apply to be able to accept CDC/DHS payments? I have been all over the internet, left messages with DHS and have gotten 0 calls back, and I even went down to DHS to find out, but the woman ended up giving me the wrong information. I have gotten calls from families who want to know if I accept DHS payments, but I have to tell them not at this time. What do I do?

Thanks BC! I went over and over that site. I did sign up with the CP&E billing on that site, but it's just for electronic payments. It doesn't say word one on how to sign up for the Ibilling. That's why I'm confused.

I keep going to those links, but it says that you have to have a provider ID and a pin and I don't have one and it doesn't tell you how to get one. I even called DHS and haven't gotten a call back and that was three days ago! And went down there and the woman gave me the wrong info. Maybe it's a sign not to sign up...lol

You don't actually 'sign' up in order to receive them. Once you get a family who qualifies there is a form they have to turn in with their application which is called the provider verification form.
As long as you are licensed (or registered as a family caregiver) you qualify and will be start to receive payments on that child from the date the family turns in their application.
What I do is have both the application and provider verification forms on hand to give parents at the interview if they feel they qualify. I always tell them the sooner they get the paperwork into the office the better as the stae will pay back pay from the date they receive the paperwork, NOT the day the child begins care if it's before the date they receive the paperwork.
Once a family has been approved you will need to go online to report your hours.
I just remembered I believe I did receive something in the mail about being eligible to receive state payments...I think it's something that happens automatically when you become licensed because I never did apply for anything...just filled out the provider verification form, which most of it is for the family to fill out...you just have a small section to do.
Here are links to MI DHS if you want to download and print both the application and provider verification forms to have on hand. It saves time, and it guarantees the family has them immediately rather than waiting for them to get time to get to the office, fill them out and turn them in. You could probably even have them fill them out when they sign up and turn them into your local office yourself if you wanted just to make sure they got turned in asap. I also keep on hand an income eligibility sheet which shows the income limits for those who aren't sure whether they'd qualify or not.

Just went back and reread your posts...I DID receive a letter with my provider ID and password on it, but I never had to apply for that...it was just sent to me after I had become licensed.
How long have you been licensed? If it hasn't been long, maybe they just haven't sent it out yet.
Have you called your licensing worker
I JUST got finished this morning going through a bunch of my paperwork and came across my letter. I'll go find it again and see if there's a number on there you can call...

Thank you so much! I just called and left another message with DHS-before I saw this post. Do you know how you get a provider id and pin number, or does it come when you enroll the first child?

The letter was titled "CDC LICENSED PROVIDER CONFIRMATION"

There is a number on there for questions where you call the CDC CENTRAL RECONCILIATION UNIT 1-866-990-3227

I see on this one particular letter it only has my tax ID number (ss number) and provider ID number. I know I also have another separate letter that has the pin number...they don't come together just like when you receive an atm card in the mail and the pin number comes separate.

I had not accepted any dhs clients before I got my letter...it just came automatically after I became licensed.

You have to have your provider ID number to enter onto the provider verification form, so you have to have that before you take any dhs clients.

The FAQ link says: "Your Provider ID number is located on the DHS-198, Child Development and Care (CDC) Certificate/Notice of Authorization"

Note: A PIN reset process has been added to the I-Billing system. You will be asked to complete a set of security questions after accessing the online CDC system. You must select three security questions from the list of choices and enter a response for each. You will also have the option to enter your email address where a future PIN request can be sent; otherwise your PIN will be mailed to the address on file

I just waited until I had my first family that used the program, and their caseworker signed me up. The family got a form that I had to fill out and they returned. I don't think their caseworker very good job, though, because supposedly the check has been lost in the mail for several months now.
