Half-Pint Hide-Out 06:40 AM 08-05-2013
I recently ran into another daycare provider when I had my kids out on a walk to the park. She commented on the fact that I had so much stuff with me just for a trip to the park...I didn't think that I really had all that much stuff, so I was just wondering what essential things you all bring with you on an outing with the kids.
This is what I had with me--
Diaper bag filled with: diapers, wipes, first aid kit, sunscreen, changing pad, plastic garbage bags, emergency cards (index sized cards I made up with all of the emergency contact info and other important things for each kid), Kleenex, hand sanitizer
Fold-up picnic blanket
Bag filled with water bottles for each kid
Bag full of outside activities: bubbles, balls, a couple of sand toys
My cell phone and wallet
And of course, the stroller for the little ones

We don't leave here, ever. For that exact reason. We have 12 kids, and the logistics terrify me. Not to mention there is no where in walking distance worth going.

When we had the daycare in our home, we lived on a golf course and would take the older children on a walk, but that was only because older children required much less baggage. I am a very planned, prepared, person and I am sure I would have just as much as you do.

I carry almost everything with me that you mentioned other than the toys.

When we go to the park, they use the toys that are there.

I only have 2 in diapers so I usually only have to bring 1 or 2 per child.

I apply the sunscreen BEFORE we leave so I don't bring that with either.

I do bring, hand sanitizer, emergency cards (index cards on a ring), my cell, one large container of water (I bring disposable cups....one for each) which is easier than water bottles for each child and of course the stroller.

My park is across the street. The only thing I take is my backpack with an emergency folder/ small first aid kit.

Any other outings its only what fits in my backpack. I never bring any toys to the park. They entertain themselves with the stuff there.

I just take:
-Towel
-Diaper bag/backpack (fits in the storage area on the bottom of my stroller if I take it) with diapers/wipes, first aid, sunscreen, changing pad, emergency info/medical authorization forms, plastic bag, snacks

I don't take toys because they never play with them or water because our park has 2 water fountains

2. Bottle if baby has not eaten

3. A few small baby toys on rings

4. Baby blanket

5. Sunscreen

6. Gloves

7. Wipes

8. Plastic bags

9. Diapers

10. Hand sanitizer

11. Disposable changing pads

12. Emergency Cards

13. Call phone

14. Keys

15. Water bottles for everyone.....PITA

16. kleenex

I do not bring toys because they can play with them at my house.

Me, too.

For picnics, I will bring chalk. Occasionally, we'll bring a big bubble bucket or sand toys (for the woodchips) or a little ball but otherwise we just use the equipment and field there.

If I am out, I usually don't have any in diapers First Aid kit and each kids paperwork- I just grab their clipboard and put it in bag with first aid kit. Cell phone because the county says I have to have it on me Then I would take anything that I thought we would need - water, snack etc.
Walks first aid bag/ cell phone.

If licensing required me to bring all of that.....I'd stay home.

I bring most all that stuff except for toys when we go out. I have a diaper bag that is ready with diapers, wipes, sunscreen etc and I just add baby bottles, water bottles and whatever else I need. I usually just go out when I have just a few kids so the stuff is not to bad to carry.

Cell phone

emergency #'s

1 diaper per kid

changing pad

small pack of wipes

hand sanitizer

small pack of kleenex

small 1st aid kit

water bottles-depending on how hot it is and how long I plan on being there

sometimes a ball to play kickball at the ball diamond-depending on what kids are here

Everything but the ball and water fits in a diaper bag under the stroller and the water I put in a bag and toss it in the other basket under the stroller.

I wish we could no sidewalks to start with that would be ok but the park is 1 mile away and we would have to go over an overpass. while not busy it is not something I would want to do

I bring my cell phone and the kids, maybe a box of kleenex if we have runny noses. The kids are welcome to bring any sand toys that they can carry. I keep a basket of them in my garage the kids can choose from for the park or splash pad. If we're going to a park in our neighbourhood we are only a couple blocks away and can come home for anything we need.

If we're going farther (by bus) then the kids each carry what they need in a small backpack, including lunch, their water and diapers if they use them. I carry nothing but my cell phone and bus change so my hands are free to carry the stroller on/off the bus. Depending on the number of young toddlers I have, I often carry one on my back in a wrap.

My cell phone has all the emergency numbers and info on it.

I don't bring much... we don't go for long outings, just little 20-30 min. trips to the park which is right in my development. I bring my phone, emergency contact card, a small towel for wiping off the slide and some tissues for all those runny noses. If its really hot the kids bring their own water bottles, otherwise I just bring one. We sunscreen up before we go and sometimes the kids wear hats/sunglasses. They usually end up in the bottom of the stroller though!
