Help! Please!
The kids just painted pumpkins.
I used water based paints, but the blue won't come off. They all look like smurfs!
Does anyone know of anything I can do to get the paint off of their skin?
I am freaking out!
I can't send them home like this!

I'm sorry, I'm laughing at the smurf image!Try some butter or Vaseline. Or an s.o.s. Pad.

Why not? If they had fun and it isn't toxic, why can't they go home like that?
I am sure their parents will bathe them.
FUN IS messy!
If it's really bad, I've removed paint from the kids before by using make-up remover or the old stand-by Noxzema. Baby oil works too.

I send home colored kids all the time. lol I tell parents to expect mess because it gives them the best experience and honestly, things happen. I have an 18mo right now who colors himself as much as the paper (by accident) but he's learning and its his favorite thing to do. His mom understands.

If you want, send a photo text captioned, "We painted pumpkins! and we're a little bit more colorful than we were when you dropped us off!"
I had a crawler get into brown paint once that didn't fully come off. I texted mom and warned her that he's "Browner than when you dropped him off!" (He's biracial) and she thought it was hysterical.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. We painted the other day and dcg was getting paint on her shirt so I had her take it off. I'm sure her mom looked twice when she took her bath that night. She had managed to get paint all over her back. I did wipe it off, but didn't scrub her.

Why would you not use an SOS pad?I would never use an SOS pad on a child.

If I'm thinking of the same SOS pad with the steel wool and blue cleaning stuff? That seems really dangerous and harmful to the kids skin. I cant even use those without gloves because they hurt my fingers.Why would you not use an SOS pad?

I second the take a pic, send it to the parents with the words that were given....
I don't know what sos pad is, but from what the previous poster stated it sounds scary to use on a child.

no to the sos pad- but I took it as being a funny compared to the context of the rest of the postings. I can see how this would be taken seriously- so no no no, it would harm a child's skin. Same with magic eraser- no will burn a childs skin
I love this because the messier the kids are the more fun you know that they had that day! I always tell my parents to send them in play clothes, we play and we get dirty/messy.
My kids are stained today tooooooo lol we used washable markers......not so washable if you ask me.

After the initial shock wore off, I had to laugh! I mean, their hands and some parts of their faces were bluer than blue. I should have posted a pic!
I don't know why I freaked out, I usually don't care if they go home messy or colorful or what have you. Many times they have "washable" marker on their hands and/or arms and I don't mind and the parents never seem to mind either, BUT I guess it was just the shock of how blue they were! I am not kidding, smurf blue!
It has worn off a little. Shaving cream did the trick and it almost came off all the way on one little guy.
Oh well, I will take Silver's advice and just tell the parents what she said! If they don't like it then too bad...lol. I can't see any of them having a problem with it. I can't send any of them any pics, I have a dumb phone with little storage and all my pic memory is used up.

Yeah, I think they are starting to use "Washable" very loosely now ...I had a few go home yesterday with very colorful hands because we were working on remembering to put the caps ON the markers when we were done with them ... some still don't have that aim down correctly, and ended up pushing the markers onto their hands, haha.no to the sos pad- but I took it as being a funny compared to the context of the rest of the postings. I took the sos comment as a funny too. I have no idea how they can call stuff washable! I'm surprised no one has gotten sued over it yet or that their isn't any disclaimers on "washable" stuff..lol You know how sue happy people are these days. My phone isn't the best and all my pic memory is used up right now-I really need to buy a bigger card for it! And I didn't think of it, they are all sleeping now.. oh well, next time.

We deliberately painted the children blue last summer. They wanted to be "Na'vi" from the movie. We played the music and sent them home blue. No one was upset by this.

Last week we mixed colors and used transparent plastic tubing to invent ways to get colored water from one bucket to the other, using only the tubes. I used VERY diluted WASHABLE liquid watercolors. For some reason, the green did NOT wash out, but every other color did. It was BAD, looked like it was stained onto their skin and EVERYONE had baths that night. I posted a picture on our business facebook page about the kids 'going green' and the parents all laughed about it.

Mix a little soap into the paint before giving it to the children. It rinses right off the children.

I ended up getting most of the stained paint off, but the parents just laughed when they saw it. My own ds had it on his face too...lol
