How did u get your first clients? I am going to be a legal unlicensed home in Ohio. i am sure these are the hardest to get. Noone wants to be first

I put the word out to my neighbors and some of them needed some help. I lucked out with my first full time family. I mentioned to a parent of a baby who also has a child the same age as my older daughter that I was opening a day care. Her little one was at a home day care that closed and her son was my first full time child. Other than that I listed my daycare on some sites so that when people do a search for home day cares in my town I come up right away.

I had my first daycare child come from a referral from another licensed daycare provider who didn't have an opening. My next child came from her next door neighbor and this mom was a child psychologist. She was also in Las Madres and before I knew it, she was referring clients to me left and right! I never advertised and strictly used word of mouth to keep my spots filled.
