Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>What to Charge for Lastnight/This Morning?

DCM asked me the week before last if I would watch DC baby last night as his daddy woupd be In town for training (army stationed on otherwise of country). He is 6 months old and Is drop in right now and will be full time end of this month. He is such a joy usually!!

Well her plans fell through as of Thursday but lastnight around 8:30 she said that she was i.voted to a movie with girlfriends would I still be up for taking him even though It was super late. I said I would as we were just watching a movie. She brought him over around 8:45 and it was decided I would keep him overnight so it was easier on everyone. I had DCG in the morning anyway!

He went to sleep for the night around 10:00 and is still asleep now at almost 8:30. Super easy and they will be here at some point before church to get him.

Now the hard part: what to charge? I know I should have the money up front but we ha e done this sort of thing before (never overnight) and they have always paid me no problem. I usually charge $15 for an hour or two like for dinner and a movie. And $30 for the whole day.

Should I charge less because he was only awake a few hours? More because it was overnight? The same as a full day?

Did his quality of care go down just because he was sleeping? If I charged $30 for the day, then I would charge the same for overnight. JMO.

Thank you!

And no his care surely didn't go down. I don't think I slept at all last night listening to both his and DSs monitor.

I would charge at least the same rate for overnight as I do for daytime.

I ended up charging $40 just because it was over 13 hours!
