How many times in a week is it acceptable to serve some form of sandwich for lunch?

I'm just bored of our usual fare and switching it up for summer

I serve something easier about once a week. Maybe not a sandwich every time, but a variation. A wrap or something.

I find sandwiches acceptable.

Not one of my kids will eat a sandwich, though. The 2 younger ones won't even eat bread. I roll up a cheese stick in a piece of ham or turkey and give them a couple of crackers on the side.

Now that it is going to better warmer I will serve some type of sandwich two times a week at least. The kiddies LOVE making their own. Even my littles enjoy them.

I think sandwiches are fine everyday. Heck that is what I feed my own kids that go to school. If my DC kids would eat them I would serve them.

I serve a sandwich about once every few weeks. But, they love them and eat them up so maybe I should serve them every other week.

my kids have really gotten into tortillas lately. you can do PB and J in them. I like to spread some cream cheese and add to that....shredded chicken, slice of cheese or lunch meat, or whatever. If your kids won't eat sliced bread, you could try small sandwich rolls, hamburger or hot dog buns, hoagie rolls, french bread. even if they pull the sandwich a part and separate before eating, i dont mind as long as everything is eaten!

I think you could serve sandwiches every day you wanted to! I wouldn't serve the same kind everyday though!

Here's a lunch menu I did last summer:
*Cold Club Sandwich on Toasted White Bread (Turkey, Ham, Mayo, Lettuce, Tomato, Cheddar Cheese, Bacon for older ones)
*Warm Meatball Subs (Meatballs-cut into 1/4s with sauce, Mozzerella Cheese)
*Cold Tuna Salad on Croissant (Tuna, mayo, celery, lettuce, pickle relish)
*Nutella & Jelly or PB&J on whole grain(no one with allergies)
*Shredded BBQ Chicken on a hamburger bun

Add fruits and veggies to each day. I always cut sandwiches in half or fourths. For the little ones I cut it them to bite size.

My kids love grilled ham & cheese, turkey clubs, and any wraps (I even do eggs in a wrap for breakfast) they also like egg salad/tuna salad in pitas. Every Friday I do something easier, like a sandwich/pita/wrap, fruit salad & tossed salad

Thanks guys! I've had a long-standing habit of PBJ on Fridays (it's nice to have something fixed in my meal plan, lol, and an easy Friday--we have cold cereal for breakfast on Fridays too) but for some reason was feeling like parents would frown on sandwiches more than once a week.

Of course, the parents RARELY ask what we're having and I dont' post menus sooo...yeah.

I think I'll add in another sandwich on Mondays or Tuesdays, and further ease my meal planning. I'm running out of ideas for lunches. *sigh*

We eat them three or four times a week. Especially in the summer.

Kids like "lunchables" too and they are easy. Just cut turkey/ham/chicken slices into triangles, circles or squares. Cheeses can be cut up too. Serve with one or two types of cracker choices.
If they can put what they want on their plates, it helps too.
I will put out a plate of choices and they can choose what they want for their "lunchable."
Serve with a vege and a fruit. Boom. Easy cool lunch.

I have no problem with sandwiches. the problem with peanut butter is the amount of peanut butter that is needed is a choking hazard I believe a serving is 2 tablespoons and that is a lot on a half sandwich. put a slice of cheese or an egg and that takes care of the problem.

Well, my only under 3 is my own DS and he just pulls the sandwich apart, lol. I don't mind, so long as he eats something besides fruit!

Grilled or a secret ingredient (ketchup for my kids!) I'll throw any sandwich in a pan and toast it up a bit and my under 2 crowd love it. currently grilled pb&j or grilled tuna with humus are the favorites.

When it gets hot I sandwiches, or the "lunchables" Angelsj said.

In the summer I do sandwiches on bread every Monday and some sort of wrap or roll-up another day of the week.

If my son had it his way he'd have pb&j every day for every meal lol. I have one lunch a week that's pick your own. I give them three choices and whatever they pick I fix. Other than that I see nothing wrong with sandwiches any day of the week or every day for lunch as long as its not the same kind and you offer a fruit or veggie on the side

In the summer, we do tons of wraps/sandwiches/lunchable type meals. I hate having the oven on when it's hot, and I think summer is about picnics, being out in the sunshine and slicing watermelon, etc. We go on lots of outings so all my food is portable and prepped before we go, hence the wraps/sandwiches/lunchable stuff.

I probably do a sandwich 2 times per week in the winter and three times per week in the summer. I'll be honest and say that most of my kids prefer simpler foods for lunch and if I do other things will ask "can't we just have a pb&j?" So I stopped knocking myself out, and do simple lunches. I figure as long as they have all the components, are homemade etc. then it's good.

I serve sandwiches 1-2 times per week year round (more in the summer). I think sandwiches are an acceptable lunch menu item. I do turkey, ham, grilled cheese, PB&J etc... Sometimes I do wraps as well.

Grilled cheese and tomato soup is a lunch favourite here. We do it twice a month. I also do make our own subs once a month. This week I don't have any sandwiches on the menu at all.
My group aren't great bread eaters with regular sandwiches.

I do sandwiches 1x a week...we head to library story time one day a week and by the time we get back, kids are starved and it is easy to have prepared before hand....
