This person saw my ad on Craigslist and e-mailed me saying, "Resonding to your craigslist post, would you be available to look after my son?" So I responded saying I have openings and asked the age of his son and hich days/hours he'd need care. I was already suspecting this as a scam. Then he replied:
Thank you for the interest, Myself and my Wife are seeking a reliable,
Childcare Service for our little Boy, Timothy. My family is relocating
to your area from Austin, TX, Faith "my wife" will be undergoing a
biblical course as well. We need you for the welfare of Timothy when
Faith is out for lectures, Timothy is 4 yrs old and you could either
watch him in our apartment or Faith could always bring him to you
whenever she`s going out for lectures thus you will be taking care of
him from 9pm-2pm. Monday to Friday. We are willing to offer you $300
weekly, (including your transport allowance). Kindly let us know if
you are satisfied with our offer. My wife would be commencing with her
course in oct and we need you to start work immediately.

Timothy is a gentle, bright and talented boy of age 4. We would want
you to make yourself available for those hours. I want you to get back
to me, so I can be assured I have someone to take care of Timothy for
us, pending our arrival in May. Kindly let us know if you are
available. We are offering to pay your first week payment upfront
"$300", so that we both know that your service has already been
acquired before our arrival. As regards the payment, it would be made
via US certified check. Please, reply me with the following details,
so that we could proceed with your payment. And I know hopefully you
will be committed to this work and have a lovely working experience
with us.

Full Name, Full Address, Cell Phone/Home Phone.
We are looking forward in getting a better service from you. God be with you!

Regards
David

So there's no doubt now. CL scam people really get on my nerves . I mean, it's so obvious to anyone with any common sense.

And evidently people are still falling for this, if it's still going around.

The check they send you will be for more than what they are supposed to pay. They will tell you to cash it and to give the difference to someone they are sending to get it. Later you find out the check was fake and you are on the hook for all of it with your bank.
