I run a small in home based childcare (I am also non regulated). I know that since I have made than $400 this tax year I need to file as well as provide the parents a year end statement. I don't want to give out my SSN can I get a tax I'D num and how do I get one? Also I assumed I would just give my receipts and amount I earned to the tax accounted come tax season along with my husbands W2's and file all together at once. Have I thought this right or did I make a big mistake? Please help!

You should get an Employer Identification Number (EIN), instead of giving out your Social Security number. You can get an EIN online at www.irs.gov (search for Online EIN). Here's an article I wrote on this:http://www.tomcopelandblog.com/2011/...o-parents.html

You are usually better off filing taxes jointly with your husband. Your business income will go on IRS Form 1040 Schedule C as well as Form 8829.
