My daycare smelling like poop the entire day. I have one dcb who is 9 months old that poops at lease 6 times a day. I take out the diapers as soon as they are changed and my daycare still has a terrible stench.

Uhhhh... that is A LOT of doo-doo.

Does this child have a diet issue?

Using gloves and enclosing the diaper in them when you are done (a la MarinaVanessa) has helped me quite a bit with the smell. I spray the entire area with Lysol after I'm done and wipe it down...and keep a febreze plug in next to the changing table. And Scentsys everywhere else.

That's what I would like to know. I talk to dcm about it everyday at pick up and she says that he only poops once or twice at home. He has been with me for a month now and he has been pooping like that from the day he started. His poop+ the other 5 that are in diapers poop=a stenchy smelling daycare.

No diet issues just a lot of doo-doo

I have a plug in and a LOT of Lysol. I also wipe down the area after I'm done changing each child.

I've got it!

Get some of those sticky air fresheners and stick one on dcbs diaper, that way maybe the smell wont be so bad when he goes!

Sprinkle baking soda on the outside of his diapers???????

I had one years ago that I had to keep the lid down on the OUTSIDE trash can because they smelled soooooo bad.

I have a mad crapper here too! I secretly call him Mr Poopy Pants. I put the package in a tied up WalMart sack & take it outside right away. We have these over sized trash containers from the city that fit nicely into a space alongside of my cover deck. It's a 3 feet walk from the door!

This is my same routine. My over sized trash can is located under my carport and it smells bad out there as well.

When I have kids in diapers I throw the diaper out in the pail by the changing pad as per licensing. But once everyone is secured I change the bag and throw it in the garage diaper pail. My garage is right off my kitchen so I can still see/ hear everyone. But I refuse to leave pails of poo *in* my house

I had one like that one time-6+ Poopy diapers a day. Pretty much every two hours!!! I think they were eating to much fruit and not enough vegies, ruffage time stuff. It took months after starting the food program for them to quit pooping so much.

I don't leave pails of poo in my daycare. We take the diapers in a plastic bag and put them in a large trashcan outside as soon as we change them. I have 6 kids in diapers and all 6 of them are constantly pooping all day just not as much as the 9 month old.

He eat a lot of both. I was thinking maybe I should cut back on the fruit in the jars that mom send him because she also add fruit to his cereal bottles(3 of them).

Dcm sends him 5 bottles total and at least 12 jars of baby food everyday He never drinks more than 1 sometimes 2 bottles while here, but he will eat the baby food like there is no tomorrow!

We had one w/ this problem too- his mom let him eat as much fruit as he wanted and his diet was probably 50% fruit!! It took months of eating a balanced meal Brkfst, Lunch and pm snack to get him to 2 poops a day, even then on mondays he would have diarrhea diapers all day and horrible diaper rash from all the fruit he ate over the weekend.

It was very hard to potty train this one because they had so bowel movements during the day and you never knew when they were needing to go because it just hit.

A few weeks ago, there was a thread about smells and how to get rid of them and several posters suggested Odoban. I bought a jar of Odoban solid to leave out near our rabbit cage because it can get smelly sometimes even though we clean it every day. It works great. I'm not sure if it will work for you but it's not expensive so it may be worth a try.

Is it diarrhea? Can you document it, and ask for a drs note the next time he goes to a physical apt?

My one dcb had 4-6 poops/day (on the runny side) every.single.day. DCM swore only 1-2/day at home on weekends. Well, turns out she wasn't changing him after every poop, and he would come to daycare Monday with a rash. I finally forced the issue and did a diet log, that much/consistency of poo is NOT normal. Turns out, dcm was giving dcb around 32oz of JUICE per DAY and not just any juice, ORANGE JUICE!

Since then, the pooping is down to 1-2/day. MUCH more tolerable as he and another dcg are the only ones not potty trained here.

I only paid about $3 at Home Depot. I'm not all that familiar with Amazon. Did I read Amazon's info right? They sell it for $10.19 new and $3.70 used? Used???! Really? I think I'll stick with Home Depot!

Well that's strange! I went back to Amazon to re-check the prices (even though I had double checked them before I started to reply) In the few minutes I typed the above info, the price went from 10.19 with shipping to 10.29 with free shipping. The listing for 3 "used" ones for 3.70 also changed to 10 "new" for 3.70. I'm confused! Is that how Amazon works? Do they generally change their listings/prices so quickly or am I just in need of a good night's sleep?

I had a child like that and then I found out that at home they were way way way over eating to the point by the time they gotntomdaycare it was all coming out. I had a little talk with mama and had her write a diet journal from home.

And the amount of food that child consumed at home was

When I used to have 6 children with 5 in diapers and I was changing a few poops per day per child (not counting what they did at night), I made their portions of fruits/veggies smaller and their protein portions larger. That solved the problem.

I finally discovered that it was ME who was giving them too many fruits/veggies. Try adjusting their portions maybe.

I hope you don't think I was implying you were, just saying my state regs essentially mean I'm supposed to leave poo pails in the house so kids are always supervised... Didn't know if your regs were similar...

How old is this child? Breastfed?

2 or more poops a day here is usually grounds for exclusion. Are they the same consistency each time or are they loose? I would suggest dcm taking him into the doctor for a sample. He might have an intolerance to milk or worms of some sort, etc.

No, I didn't think you were implying that I were. I have the same state regs here, but if you happened to walk through the door you may think I had a pail of poop in here somewhere

I just ordered a bunch of solid odoban and the spray cleaner/deoterizer... I hope I love it and it makes my house smell yummy!
Love that it doesn't contain any carsonigins or suspected ones but the permenet eye damage is a little unnerving! Lol.

I just looked and it says on the website that Home Depot has it. If you have a Home Depot by you maybe you won't have to wait for shipping.

have you washed out the diaper pail with a good strong lysol? A quick lysol spray will help and a scentsy going will help freshen the air. Open the windows too. Double bag your poopy diapers right away. Check your diaper changing area to make sure it is wiped down or a clean cloth put on between changes. Also check the kids clothes for leakers.

The child likely has a dairy and/or gluten allergy. Encourage the parents to have him checked.
