So I got an email regarding 2 girls, 3yr & 11mo, who need care ONLY on Thursdays. I'm going to have an interview and see how things go, but blah... 1 day?? I don't charge a flat weekly rate but I do charge a tiered rate based on attendance. 1 day a week would be $55/ea so thats ok, especially for just 1 day. But blah! I hate that!

Could you charge for a 2-day part-time spot, or something a little better for you if you need the income?

With part time I have a 3 day minimum. They can come only one day but pay for 3. They can do 1 day on a drop in rate (highest day rate) but their one day is not guaranteed.

I charge a minimum of 3 days even if they come less

I do offer part time spots but they are not guaranteed. So if they were interviewing with me I would tell them my daily rate and say that I will be glad to offer it but they must know that at anytime they could be dropped if a full time child needs the spot.

I don't do one day a week. It feels too much like babysitting: no consistency for the group, no consistency for the child, way too long for them to settle in to routines, barely any connection to long-term project work.

Well it all depends on their hours really. I have an infant that's 17mos until 1:40 which is before SA kids are home from school. It wouldn't put me over and actually still leaves room for 1 more. But I don't like to be at capacity really. It would basically be extra on top of my normal load, I'm still looking to fill one spot right now even if this worked out.

I have (2) 2yr olds, (1) 1yr old (gone by 2 daily) and (2) SA boys 8 & 10 who are home at 3pm on Thurs. Even if they're all here and I have 1 extra child I wouldn't be full. And I don't have the 10yr old on holidays/breaks so even if everyone was home for the day I would be fine.
