Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>I Finally Quit!!

K, for you that have been following my posts about the horrible daycare I worked at, I finally quit. I e-mailed my director a long message about why I was quitting, to which I got no response. But that's okay. I did the right thing.. Now, here's the part that's going to blow your minds.

Remember the girl that got the laundry detergent in her eyes? Well, she's having to see a specialist every day for two weeks and HOPEFULLY won't have any damage. Yet, the assistant director STILL denies the soap got in her eyes. The day after it all happened, she came up to me and said "So, did ____ die during the night?" She was being sarcastic because she thought the mom was overreacting. Her daughter was almost BLIND!!! IMO, she could have responded WAY worse! But WHO says something like that about a child!?!

I included her comment in my letter to the director. And since quitting, my three year old informed me that one of his teachers pinched him. We were just sitting down and he pinched my leg and says "Mrs. ______ does this to my leg."

It wasn't his teacher, but the lady that teaches them music. So I directly asked his teacher about it and she said "No, she gets out her 'pinchers' and just squeezes below their booty'" ....sounds like pinching to me??!!

Anyways, I'm so glad to be away from there. I'm getting as much evidence as I can together and am going to contact licensing with everything asap.

Whoohoo!

Good for you!

I am hoping beyond hope that you mean when your son used to go there, right? I mean, you're not sending him back there, are you?

Haha, absolutely not. My two sons only went there because I worked there and they could go for free.

His teacher got very defensive when I told her that my son wouldn't be returning for anyone to pinch him anymore.

She said I was being dramatic because that she's seen me spank my child. Yes, I spank my child. I'm his mother, I have the right to do that. She doesn't have a right to touch my child at all.

Not a judgement or indictment and forgive me if you’ve written in the past that you have reported your previous employer to licensing.

Reading this post and your previous post, I think the very best thing for you to do was to quit or resign. It’s just disappointing to read a childcare professional reporting issues after they’ve quit. The parallel to that is a parent who reports alleged serial neglect, abuse or an unsafe childcare business after they term or are termed. Those who have a long laundry lists of abuse, neglect and/or safety violations with dates ranging over months can come across as disgruntled more that reporting factual issues.

Anyone mandated by law sees, hears, learns an reportable issues that involves safety, neglect or abuse the time to report is as soon as possible. Responsible parents should do the same.

It's the afternoons when they're down to one person per room and things get crazy. However, during their visit, they found one teacher that had too many kids in her class and they fined the daycare $50. They paid the fine and nothing changed. The director laughed about it and thought it was silly.
Happy to learn you reported the situation during your employment! The director sounds like a gem (insert extreme sarcasm).
