One of my DCM's works at a greenhouse so she brought me a dozen little spruce seedlings wrapped in little burlap bags with ribbons. One for each child.

We will be making an "earth day" craft project and plant our tomato and pepper seeds in little starter kits. When they are big enough we plant them in our garden boxes outside and eat what we grow all summer.

I will also be making little greenhouses with bean seeds for them to bring home. Like this:

That is really neat! We have planted some sensitive plants (Mimosa Pudica) and the are beginning sprout. We are also expecting caterpillars tomorrow and learning about the life cycle of a butterfly.

It's Earth Day all week here and so far we've done:

This cool Earth dude:

Tissue Paper Earths:

And today we're doing these which will take the rest of the week with drying ans such. (Probably smaller though.)

We made a bird feeder using recyclable materials for the children to take home and one to hang in our yard, and baked "earth" cupcakes.

I missed this thread earlier, but here were our planned and unplanned earth-day celebrations.
