I love it!

I feel bad and have no idea why. I just can’t do a father’s day craft tomorrow. As I was typing, it hit me why.

This is what we are making and they are coming out very cute!

It's still a work in progress, but nearly done. Just have to glue on the kiddos pictures.

We're doing wind chimes made with fishing line, beads and used spoons and forks. They are really cute. I got the idea from pintrest.

We did the footprints with Walk With Me Daddy, they came out cute. Then I asked them lots of Dad questions and printed their answers off. And we made Candied Nuts to send home in the small canning jars. And boy, are they good! I'm not a huge fan of walnuts but that's what we used and I can't stop eating them.

That is AWESOME! I wish I had one of those, made by my own children!

I think we'll be doing the Walk with me Daddy thing too. A baby and two twos that do not have it in them to do much in the line of crafting. And that's okay. Right?

I bought work gloves from the dollar store and I put the kids' handprint on top of each glove. I also attached a poem to the gloves.

We do free art and only "make something" for Mother's and Father's Day so I try to do something cute.

This year I had each mom bring in a shirt of the dads (their work uniform, a jersey of their favorite sports team, a shirt and tie...whatever was the dad's "look"). I took a picture of each kid in their dad's shirt and they made frames that said "I Want to Be Like My Dad." They came out really cute.

Most Valuable Dad

I bought Dollar store plates and plastic plate holders for the "frames".
Cute and cheap!

I did t-shirts this year. Front says "my dad deserves a pat on the back" and the back has their handprints all over it in fabric paint. I have mostly sets of siblings so this worked well, only needed 3 shirts at 3.33 each in Michael's!

it was easy too! I had planned to do the road/massage shirt but with all my kids being young I figured that would be all me, not the kids so went with the old standby - handprints!!

We did these. On back of the keychain we wrote the child's name and the year.

We're doing a "photo shoot" tomorrow similar to this picture and I'm modge-podging it to ceramic tiles from Home Depot. They turn out to be cute coasters.

Question for those who have SA kids in their program -

I used to do special crafts (ie Mothers/Fathers Day, Christmas) with ALL my kids, even the SA kids.
However it's difficult to do those types of crafts with the SA kids as they are not here for as long, and let's face it, they do those crafts at school too. After one "I already made something at school!" comment and a comment from a parent a few years ago about age inappropriate crafts I stopped doing them with the SA kids.

With Father's Day coming up on Sunday, I am wondering if I should have my two SA boys do something or stick to my policy? If you take SA kids, what do you do?

Playcare, I'm glad you asked this. I've been wondering the same thing. I hate to leave them out but the gift we made as a younger group would not be suitable for the 6-8 yo group. I might just have them make a card and list all the reasons why they love their dad, take a picture of them to stick in somewhere.

We made picture frames that we glued washers, nuts & bolts, nails, screws, etc. to. I inserted their photos and a little note that says "My dad can fix anything!"
I thought this would be perfect since 2 of the dcds are in construction, ones an iron worker, and the other owns a glass repair shop. All "Mr. Fix-its"!

I doubt a couple of my dcd's could fix anything, but I love this idea for a couple of them- really cute!

For my "littles" I used the chalkboard wall in my family's downstairs play room (off limits to day care and I don't think most of them even knew what was down there )and wrote out in bright colored chalk

I MY DAD!

I did some art work too

While my assistant was here I took each child downstairs and had them stand in front of the board and took their pictures. Some kids are more photogenic than others... but we got great pics of each child.
I sent them to the local photo place and will pick them up tonight. Tomorrow we will make "frames" using foam paper/ craft sticks and I'll probably attach a Father's Day poem.
If I think of it I'll post some pics of the finished projects.
On a side note, how did we manage before the internet?!
