Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>Too Cold For One of The Group?

My 3.5 year old daughter weighs just 27lbs and can't stay warm outside. I have layered and layered her clothes and she freezes minutes after going outside. I have let her come in by herself a few times but do not really like that idea. Does anyone else have a child in daycare that can't handle the cold? What do you do to help them? I am in Western NY so it is cold Oct to April. I thought of a space heater but am wondering if that is against regulations. She is a peanut without an ounce of fat on her. We have the same trouble when she swims.

I am that person. I wear long underwear, leggings, with jeans on top. I'll wear a cami, shirt, sweater, and good winter coat on top. If I need to, I'll wear 2 pairs of socks.

Wool, wool, wool. In cold weather, my daughter wears a wool undershirt, topped with a wool long-john shirt and pants, topped with clothes (usually a dress, leggings, sweater). Snowsuit, even when there's no snow. Wool socks. Always a hat.

I also just spotted a cool idea somewhere that I'm going to try--a hand-warming station, with a heating pad on a table inside a towel. Tuck your hands inside for a warm-up.

I'm the same way! I can't take the cold at all! When I worked at a center I would wear leggings under my pants in the winter and the girls would make fun of me (all in good fun), but I had to, even when we stayed inside!

my daughter is the same same age and weight, she hates the cold, heck I hate it to, not everyone enjoys the cold, in the winter we always play out in the afternoon, and since she was my own daughter, if she'd been out for a while, and wanted to go in, I usually let her go in by herself, only her, yeah I know shes not being supervised in there, and I know its daycare and she has to follow the rules, but sometimes, with my own kids the rules do get bent slightly, my daughter can go in and watch some cartoons. Not once the weather gets nice though!

Jewels...just set up your baby monitor so you can hear her, and you're in compliance.
