I read it! I loved the comments from people who "believe in spanking". Honestly, when parents went to the resoning with, time outs, etc, that is when childrens behavior went "to hell", and it has followed them thru their childhood and young adult life in a very negative way.

I'm not afraid to admit that I spanked my child (almost 17yr old) when he was young, I also did time outs with him. I have so many compliments how his behavior & manors compared to other kids his age. I always got compliments from people both from friends & strangers. I was never as hard on him as my parent were but he still got disciplined when needed. Its much harder now cuz he is bigger then I am now

I agree with Mac. I may be old fashioned... But I'm only 30...but it is sad how restricted discipline is these days. We practically raise these kids in our homes but the only form of disciple we can do is "you go sit in time-out" or distract them from the problem, or put the toy in timeout. My own kids are behaved because I have trained them to obey...Training their will. And I think "you do it because I said so" is not bad at all. Of course you need to be fair, loving, kind, have fun etc...without that they wont trust or respect your authority. But seriously, I believe that is why so many kids a messed up these days. They need some good "old-fashioned disciple".

I believe in spanking and spanked my children when needed. My son was spanked 3 times that we remember and he is 32 and a perfect gentleman. My daughter is 29 and both of my children are responsible and productive adults.

I have a dcg that is probably the cutest little brat that ever walked on this earth. She is the one that climbs the bookcase, jumps off the top of the slide, stands in the center of the table, etc... My husband says "she's so cute you want to just slap the cute right off of her". When she ran to the road laughing as I was getting each child off the porch(and made the mistake of putting her down first) I told her mother that if she was my child she would have gotten her cute little butt spanked. Her mom gave me permission to do so but just my luck the state would pull in. Her mother has repeatedly told me thank you for not terminating her because she would have if it was her. We had a boy that was acting up in our care and when mom heard about this, made a point to tell us in front of him that "If he gets out of line, paddle his butt til it's blistered".

We never would have spanked regardless of the permission (the risk is too high), but talk about a change in behavior! Just knowing that mom said to whack him a good one was all it took!

I, too, was spanked. I remember being hit with a wooden spoon so hard by my mother that it broke. I was laughing at her as she was spanking me (which you NEVER laugh at my mother when she is angry ) and then once the spoon broke she started to cry and then I started to cry haha

Growing up I didn't believe in spanking. That all changed the day first day I started working at the daycare. I totally believe a good crack on the bottom isn't going to harm anyone. It didn't make me any less of a person.
