Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>Moving to Florida need help
vixen218 03:32 AM 10-05-2007
I currently live in the UK, but I am looking to move to Florida (in particular Poinciana, Kissimmee) with my Husband, 4 yr old Son, Mother-in-Law, and Father-in-Law.
Both my Mother-in-Law and myself are Qualified Childcare workers here, I have a BTEC in Childhood Studies and can look after children on my own up to the age of 8 yrs old, my Mother-in-Law as a similar qualification.
We would like to open a Day Care Centre / facility in Poincianna.
I have a few questions therefore I am hoping that you might be able to help.
1. Are our qualifiations good enough, or do we need to go on other courses when we get to Florida?
2. Are there any forms we need to fill out to create a Day Care Centre?
3. What are the rules concerning child ratios, over here we have things like 3 children to 1 adult for under 1's?
4. Do you have advertising rules?
5. What is a reasonable price to charge for an Educational Day Care Centre per day / hour?
6. I found a rule that states that the minimum indoor floor space should be 35 square feet per child, that is quite a large area, do they not mean 3.5 square feet per child?

I am sure that there are other questions that need to be asked but i am yet to think of them.

We are hoping to come out on a L1 Visa, so could you also tell me if there are any rules regarding this that I should be aware of.

Many Thanks
