So..new child starts today. First, parent tried to drop child off at 0600....our center doesn't open until 0630. The opener in my room told dad that he has to come back. THEN dad asks what time we close...she told him 1800. He says," oh, can you stay until 1830?". Opener says, no, we close at 1800.

Dad takes DCG to go home until opening time. He stops by the front desk and tries to see if he can get a 1830 closing time answer from the front desk person. Nope...she told him 1800 and it's $1/minute after that.

Dangit...I'm the closer tonight. I'll be mad if I have that child past 1800!

didn't he read the manual when he signed up. Sounds like he wants special already. I've found that inorder to avoid people dumping kids with me all day, I went to contract times. I tell them that I work only the hours that they need, not the hours I'm open.

That's exactly what we think he's trying to do. The center's contract does have open and close times. There's also a plaque with the operating hours by the front door and and plaque by the front desk. My room's opener said he was acting like we owed it to him to stay open later just for him :/ I'll update when I get home tonight

How frustrating! And it sounds as if you are in a center, so no control over enrollment. Will they term if he is constantly late?

If this is his FIRST day, and the guy ends up coming at 6:30pm, I would make a sincere plea to your director to not let him back again. That's ridiculous and would make THREE people that confirmed for him the hours which he disregarded. Hope he doesn't make the wrong decision, but I am fuming for the opener that he tried to go over her head like that. What a jerk.

Crises averted! Dad and mom picked DCG up at 1745...in civilian clothes. I have no idea why they HAD to have care until 1830 if they had time to go home and change out of their uniforms and pick up before closing time.

I hope this is the first and last "special" request DCD makes

On a side note: DCG was absolutely fabulous. She fit right in and followed all our rules!

They probably had plans or needed to run errands or somthing and wanted DCK out of their hair while they did stuff. They probably just modified their original plans once everyone said no to do that and picked up DCK and then left to do whatever with him.
