Dont you just love when a family gives notice and then follows that up by asking for a favor? In this case, the dad asking if I can watch little one while I am on vacation so mom can get her haircut.....I think you all know what my answer was

I do have to advertise for a new kid though but no biggie. This little one was fine but the parents wanted "special" to the max and were the only ones I ever had that would text me non-stop about everything. Last week was the final straw. Texting me about their childs diaper rash (it was VERY minor) and then the next day, not even bringing cream. Apparently, it was important enough to contact me after hours but not important enough for them to do anything about it like providing cream, which they have been told numerous times that I dont provide. Perfectly happy to move on to a new family!

I consider myself pretty professional, but there are times where I just cannot bite my tongue and I burst out laughing when a parent makes an outrageous remark or request - this most definitely would have been one of those times.

I've been putting up with a similar situation for a while now and they gave notice two weeks ago. I did "special" to the max. They were my second family and I have since been strengthening my backbone, which is half the reason they are leaving I'm sure.

I had posted two weeks ago abou them being late and taking advantage of me regularly, and then the next day they gave notice. So anyways... That was a Thursday, on Friday dcm texted me and said that the nanny that they hired had something fishy come up on her background check, so she wanted to give me a "HEADS UP" that it might not work out. I kindly replied, "that's aweful, unfortunately I've already filled the spot so that won't work for me "

Heeheee! I'm so glad that roller coaster is over! Today is crazy dcg's last day BA BYE!! My husband thinks they will be asking for weekend babysitting and stuff. I'm pretty sure I'll have plans

Glad they left then. My DC family wanted special, but that doesnt mean I gave it to them They are moving now and that next provider will receive a great family thanks to my careful training, ha ha! They are very nice, just clueless, hence the "will you take care of my child while you are on vacation?"

I have one family that always expects special treatment because we have been friends for a long time. The other night I turned the tables on him and asked him to return the movies I had rented since he mentioned he had to go somewhere that went right past the video store. He did it! Tee hee. He did hesitate at first but then agreed. At least it saved me a trip and maybe he won't ask me for as much "special" as before.

I have a daycare mom that when her daughter first started 2 years ago, she always would ask for "favors". I started to feel like it was being expected. So I started to ask for "favors" back. It did cut down on her asking. She only asks when she really needs the help now instead of it being a total convenience thing. 2 years later though, it has become a great relationship. She stops at dunkin donuts or starbucks in the morning a couple times a week and always gets me coffee. She has stopped by the store a couple times and grabbed me a gallon of milk or something. She has dropped my son off at practice for me. Started as special but now is a give and take situation.

lol Too funny. You'd think that they would have at least asked for the favor first before giving you a termination notice. Of course the fact that they asked for you to watch their child during your vacation means that you would have so no anyway but if you were a parent wouldn't you at least want to play your cards smarter ha ha ha.

I know right?! This is how I know that it is just them being clueless and not really trying to take advantage of me. It just doesnt occur to them that I wouldnt want kids here 24/7

I had the same thing happen a couple of yrs. ago. I had a family talk to me on the phone and then set up an interview. They really loved me, but the other daycare that they just toured was $25.00 per week cheaper. They called me and told me they were going to go with the $25.00 a week cheaper daycare. I said ok, and thanks for letting me know. About a month later, guess who calls me. That same family wanting the spot, HA!!!!!! That daycare had 10 families, with 14 children in total!!! I had 4 children at the time. SORRY, I told them I filled the spot. LOL!!!!!!!

Oooh - that's a great idea! Keep a notebook and list the special favors and when YOU need something, go to that notebook and mention the favor you granted "Since I did....... , will you please do ......? When they grant the favor, cross theirs off in the book.

Can you do me a favor? Sure but you will owe me a favor.

Like it was said on another thread.. Women keep score. hehehe!

Oh my... I think I need breakfast!
