Just wondering what everyone does for hours on a regular basis. I have an inquirey for a start time two hours earlier than my open hours and am contemplating taking them. Should I charge more? just during those hours I mean.
Do you charge more if you work 24 hours for dc? How does that go? and how do you sleep at night with all the kids there? I am pretty sure we can't sleep here--even at night.

where are you located? In CA you can NEVER be asleep while you have children present. No matter what time of day it is.

I have set hours 7:45 am to 6:00 pm. If you need care before or after that the charge is $7.00 extra to open early and $7.00 extra to extend my hours. I also charge $5.00 per hour. SO, if you need me to open at 6:45 for you I will charge an additional $12.00 per day that you need me to do this....Sorry I forgot to mention that no child will be allowed to attend for more than 10 hours on any given day.

7am-5pm. I've only been asked to open 10-15mins early on a rare occasion. No charge.

7am-5:30pm

I don't do early or late so I don't have prices for that.

I am open 6am to 5pm. I am a bit flexible as long as I am not taken advantage of. I have opened up at 5am, when mom had mandatory overtime for a month, and dad was already at work at 3am. I charged them an extra $20 a week for that month.

What are your hours? Would you be up that other 2 hours and be willing to take them?

Here we cannot sleep when kids are here, so i cant do 24 hour daycare UNLESS i had an assistant here so i can sleep.

I'm 7a - 5p M - F. Nothing earlier and only 1 family that is here just a few minutes after 5 but almost everyone else is picked up by 4:30p.

I'll check with my state on the overnight thing. I am pretty sure we can't sleep here, either. I just wonder how people do it!
I am open 7-5 m-f. I was thinking of charging an extra amount per week due to being open early. I am NOT an early riser. I may not take them at all. Haven't even considered it lately. Used to do 12 hour days and HATED it.

my hours have been 7:30-5:00 for a while now but I am doing 7am for a family come September. I am not a morning person but my DD is going off to middle school this year and will have earlier hours so I had to be up earlier anyway. I think 7am is the earliest I will go - we do too much at night for me to be exhausted. I used to be open till 5:30pm but as my kids got older and more involved in sports I had to cut it to 5pm so I can get them out on time. I have to turn away many people who need later hours.

I was 8am - 7pm for years now I am firmly at 8am - 5pm!

I have a family and a life of my own so I had to get strict!

8-5:15. I will not open early or stay open late for any amount of money on a regular basis. For my current clients, if someone asks on occasion, I am happy to open early (no earlier than 7:30) or stay open late and I don't charge.

My hours are M-F, 7am-5:30pm. I'm thinking about changing them to 7:30-5:30. No before and after school at this time.

My hours are M-F 730 to 5:30. I'm an early bird so if a parent needed earlier, I would do it on a temporary basis and as long as I'm not heavily into going to the gym. Stay open later??? NOPE!!!

I am open M-F from 7am - 5pm. I find if I open any earlier or close later I get way too tired and am not able to get ready for the next day. Also like a lot of other daycare providers I too have a family and a life outside of daycare. As much as I love providing daycare I need time to myself and no extra money is worth that.

7:30-5:30. I have on VERY rare occasions, (like 2), opened a little early. And will stay open a little later for one parent that occassionally has to work late. No charge.

I am open from 7:30 to 4:30, but ONLY take teacher's children so these hours work for me.

If you decide to open 2 hours earlier I would charge a premium price for it.

I wouldn't open that early unless I desperately needed the money.

I have a tread on this also..didn't know if she shld charge extra or give an extra hr for one of my families....

I decided to change my hrs to 6am to 5pm. Most of my families are gone by 3:30pm but I have one family who has a hard time making it here til 5pm on tues. so we switched her those days to 7am to 5pm to keep her to on 10 hr days. Which before we contracted 9 hrs. I am not charging anything extra for 10 hr days but after 10 hrs I start charging a$5 late fee every hr. I try to keep track of the hrs during the week and if she is early during the week then her contracted hrs then I give her a break and waive the late fee.

My hours are 7:00 to 5:15 p.m. but I will not complain about 5:30 pickups because it's usually traffic related and affects most of my parents. If someone wants earlier drop off I will charge an extra $5.00 per child but no earlier than 6:45. I have been doing this for over 20 years and find if I'm not strict then people WILL take advantage!
