I am closing my day care in a week, almost 25 years. I have some very special little ones I will miss. I am looking for suggestions on what to give each child as a going away gift?
They all have plenty of pictures of our group so trying to find something different and special keepsake.
Ideas?

I love pictures, picture books etc... so I can't think past that idea
but Catherder had a great idea about buying a book in a previous thread about kids leaving daycare... so maybe something like that?

Depending on my mood I write an inscription, put their handprint in it, glue a photo of them in it, etc.....

I always write them a letter and give a book when they leave. Just trying to come up with something extra special. maybe I am trying too hard! LOL

A few people I know let their kids take a toy or something special from the providers stuff.

I like that idea. If you aren't going to keep your DC "stuff", let them each take turns selecting one or two items to take.
It reminds me of (totally not related to DC!) when my Grandma announced she wasn't going to decorate a Christmas tree anymore, and when my family and all my cousins' families left her house that year after Christmas, she let us each take an ornament off her tree. That was probably 25 years ago, and I still proudly hang that ornament every year! I'm not saying you should let the kids take home your Christmas ornaments, I'm just comparing it to the sentiment of them taking home a DC toy.
