I had a DCM bring in her 3 year old and say to me that dcg is kind of grumpy and she only wants to play with 2 of her friends today. She doesn't want to play with dcg A. Then she asks dcg if it was because dcg A took your toy from you? I said your kidding right? That wasn't even dcg A it was dcb that did that and dcb only took back what she took from him. Then I said well that's to bad that she feels that way because we play in a group and I guess you'll have to take her home if she wants to leave the other dcg out. DCM look surprised and told dcg girl to have a nice day and left. I shouldn't of been so rude but some days I can help myself.

I can't believe dcm is encouraging dcg to only play with certain people. Wow. What you said was great. I'm glad you let her know it was unacceptable.

I wouldn't force them to play together but i wouldn't specifically exclude a child either. If they don't want to play together that's fine. But I wouldn't MAKE them stay apart at a parents request unless one was hurting the other

I can't believe the dcm came in and said that! 
I don't make kids play together if they don't want to, but I definitely don't encourage a kids behavior like the dcm did. I think you responded well.

I would have said something too. "Oh no dcm, we don't encourage exclusion at daycare. I'm sure you wouldn't want another parent telling their child not to play with dcg."

"We're all friends here." I have to say this multiple times a day to the kids....can't imagine having to say it to a parent! I don't make children play together or be best buddies, but we must be nice to each other.
