If I could have one wish for daycare....

Some sort of glitter magnet, would be a million dollar idea !
Today my vacuum cleaner all together lost suction. Right after a sensory activity with pinto beans. So now the kids are sleeping on a mats on a floor scattered with Pinto beans. I suppose worse things have happened, but it irritatated me to high heaven at the time.

A circle time rug would be mine. However, there are some other big needs coming up for the daycare that will need to come first, so I don't anticipate this happening in the next 6 months.
I am going to make these for August when we start our "school year" back again.

oh man those are nice. I wish that I could sew.
I bought some round dinner place mats at the dollar tree of several different colors. We use them during circle time to define space, but some of the kids starting tearing them apart.....

A 15x30 addition on the back of my house, right off the kitchen/dining room.
Hey, no one said it had to be reasonable wish!

Hmmmm, definitely a housecleaning service, and a professional landscaper for maintenance work. Not just a one time occurrence thing....I'm talking about regular visits from both. Ahhhh, a girl can dream!

Make is a designated daycare room with a small loft and centers. Right now I use my whole main level and while it's cozy, it limits what I'm willing to do with my kiddos. I refuse to hang the typical "daycare" stuff all over my living room. I have a play room, but at 8x10 feet, it's a bit small.

wow that does sound nice...I have never really seen a loft in a daycare. that is where there is another room within a room correct?
melilley 02:11 PM 06-26-2013
A separate house to have my daycare in! I'm jealous of all of you who have one!

Only one wish Daycare??? What if I found a golden lamp and the genie gave me three
????
- a duplex style house so I could live in one part and have my daycare set up in the other
-a large, fences in yard that was a nature playscape a la Rusty Keeler
-an awesome assistant

no...more life a half a room within a room. Like this:

It wouldn't have to be quite that fancy...
I think I'd like it to have a gate, so that only older kiddos could go up. Then I could put the train tracks and unit blocks up there and they could build without toddler terror.

This! Our basement is finished but we never use it. Would love to move dc down there. I could do so much with toys, displays, centers, etc.

A bathroom on the first floor and a separate nap room!

Why don't you then?
You can add an egress window, if you don't have a second exit. My friend did to make her dc compliant and it worked well.
If you live where it's cold, you'll need extra heat. There are child-safe ION heaters that work really well.
An apartment sized refrigerator, a microwave, and maybe a hotplate (or an electric fry pan) takes care of meals.
Just think of the fun you'd have with "kid' decorating while the rest of your house looks like a grown-ups.
FYI-we have a finished basement, but our master suite is down there (half exposed), and has been since before I did daycare. Also, our family room, which is in reality my dh's man-cave. He'll put up with daycare in his house (if it makes me happy), but he's not giving that up.

A nice large maple tree in the back yard...No shade here...ick!
I want my old house back when I did child care years ago. Super nice big yard that got shady by 3:00 because the sun would go behind the bluff. The yard bordered a wooded hillside and we would go out 3x a day!
A much cooler yard by far!

A wish for my daycare?
Hmmm there are so many.....
I wish all the kids would come in on Monday and somehow had all mysteriously lost their voice for 10 hours, starting at 7:00 a.m.
OR
That we had our nice grassed in backyard back.
I had foundation work done last fall and they tore through half my yard which is now half mulch playground and half dirt(a.k.a. mud due to all the rain). I've got someone who said they can aerate it for me in the next couple weeks and reseed.

love stuff like this..........hmmmm
all that nice stuff you see in the catalogs for outside play-

I wish I was handy! I have so many projects I'd love to do/have for the daycare but I'm so not handy. I broke a friend's drillbit in an old tree the other day. I've bugged the one friend I have who is handy enough this spring and can't justify asking another favour.

ooohh that is a good wish no one in my family is handy...we do have a friend, but I hate to have to keep asking him too..
Our neighbor is one of the best at making things an is an amazing artist, but I always feel bad to ask him to do things when I know he does not have the time...
I have to add that to my list.......learn to become handy...lol
