I'm embarrassed to ask this but- when you say "1 can cream of .....soup", do you just add that, or do you also add the can of water since it is condensed? Thanks for not laughing at me in advance. Stop laughing. I mean it.

LOL! I'm not laughing! Really!

Nope, no water! Just a little milk so it doesn't get too thick!

I add sour cream sometimes too! No onion for daycare, but I do that when I make it for family. Actually, for family we do it like this:

Slice up 2 new york strip steaks, toss with seasoned flour and brown
Remove from pan, add a little olive oil if necessary, sautee onions for about 5 minutes, return steak to pan.

Add cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, steak sauce and beef stock. Serve over noodles, a little fancier version!

I'm trying this tonight, except I'm making it with stew meat. I'm gonna use some beef stock instead of milk, adding onions, and let the browned stew meat simmer on low for about an hour to get it nice and tender. We'll see how it turns out!!

My variation turned out soooo good! Simmering the stew meat in the sauce made it nice and tender. I'm not often the best cook, and my hubby seemed surprised that he liked it so much! Hehehe!
