I was just wondering how many kids everyone has? Ages?
Do you have an assistant?
Are you licensed?

I have 5 children (including my own 2)
DD - 5yo
DS - 3yo
DCG - 4 yo
DCB - 4 yo
DCB - 14 months

I do not have an assistant and I am legally unlicensed.

5 kids
DCD - 5 (missed Kindy cut off)
DCB - 4
DCG - 4
DCB - 3
DCG - 2 (will be 3 next week)

I have a sub/assistant that comes typically twice a week for 3 hours/day. I share her with another provider so that we both have someone available if we need to take time off for whatever reason

I am licensed.

I'm licensed and have 3 DCKs plus 3 of my own kids who count in my ratio but one is leaving after next week so 2 DCKs and my 3, my 9yr old won't count once he's 10.

DCB - 22mos (leaving next week)
DCB -2
DCB - 9 (10 next month)
DS - 2
DS - 8
DS - 9 (10 in Feb)

In August I had way more! I had a 12 month old DCB FT, plus a 3yo M & F, and all these same ones. I was technically full on those days with 3 under 2 and 3 over 2.

Are the regs different in different parts of the state?

According to my regs for Registered Texas home providers if you have 3 dcks under 17 months old, and 3 dcks between 18mo and 5 years, then you can only have 1 school age child for a total maximum of 7 children at anytime. Your own children count.

Licensed.
I currently have two 18 month olds (birthdays within two days of each other) and two just turned 3 year olds (birthdays within 3 weeks of each other).

I am licensed for 10. Enrollment has gone way down in the last few years. I have two infants that want in but I can't take both. I'm thinking of hiring my daughter, who is a nanny at the moment, to work with me and then we can take both infants. The financing of the whole thing would be an issue though. I just can't decide which way I want to go with the business.

I am legally unlicensed & have no assistant, though my husband helps when he gets home in late afternoon. My kids are: my own son( 3 next month), DCG( 2 in April), DCG(1in April), & starting next month DCB(2mos) Have had him on a retainer since mom was a few months pregnant. He attended in utero.

These numbers may change soon as my husband is considering going on disability & will be here full time, which means we can take in more kids. I'm legally allowed more; my own son is a spirited handful/ ball of mischievous energy though, so I didn't want to get in over my head with just me here.

Licensed with 12 children and one assistant... 2-one yr olds, 2-two yr olds, 2-three yr olds, 6-four yr olds......my own two are school-age over 9 yrs old so they do not count in my ratio in my state.....my state only allows 4 children under the age of 24 months as well....15 maximum with at least 3 of those being school-age, but I do not do school-age other than my own....therefore 12 is my full capacity.

Unless I am reading this wrong, it says the providers own children do NOT count in ratios

That is confusing because in my minimum standards book it says that they do. And my licensor has told me the same thing numerous times.

You may very well be correct.

I clicked on your minimum standards manual (on the SAME page as the link I posted earlier)
and beginning on page 49, it says you may never have more than 7 children on site INCLUDING your own children if you have 3 under 17 months and 3 between 18mos and school age.

Weird AND confusing.

Here is the min standards manual https://www.daycare.com/texas/texas_...licensing.html

Also, I am noticing that it says that the providers children do not count under the LICENSED table.

PP is not licensed, she is registered. As am I.

I have attached a page regarding ratio for registered home providers in Texas. This is straight out of my Minimum Standards book. Notice the last column states "including the providers own children"

ETA:

I posted before I saw your reply, BC. Sorry! Yes, I agree it is confusing!

Also, I edited the attachment for easier viewing

I am licensed as required by my county (not my state).

I am allowed 6 but prefer to watch 3 (semi retired).

Grandson-3

DCB-(3 days a week) 11 months

A very occasional drop in or two.

I used to watch my limit of 6 for many years. No assistant. Used to have one for several years but very part time.

We must have been typing at the same time.

Registered, certified, licensed, type A or type B......wowza.....all the state standards are super confusing.

It's like someone said "Hey, let's be as confusing and vague as we possibly can" And goodness sakes if one state can't simply be similar to another... it sure would be easier for everyone.

Maybe the goal was keeping us in a constant state of confusion so they can make up rules or interpret them as they see fit.

Yes, I think that was the goal!

I am not trying to call PP out, I just would hate to hear that she got in BIG trouble for being above ratio. That would really stink.

What class is your license? Just curious as you are only allowed 8 under school age?

I am licensed as a C-3 but operate as a C-2 instead.

I have 10 kids under school age and 2 school age kids (that do not go to school). So I have 12 kids daily. I am not required to have a second adult or helper while operating as a C-2 but the ratios and second adult/assistants change when I operate as a C-3.

I am limited to no more than 2 under 2 years of age.

I am c-1 but can technically switch between c1 and c2. Which I personally believe is a recipe for disaster but apparently its pretty common.
C1 is 10 total, 8 under school age 3 under 2.
C2 is 12 total 10 under school age 2 under 2 with only 1 under 1 . I THINK?!

I have 16 daycare kids. Four of those are under 2 years old. The rest are 2 through 5. No school age kids this year (yeah!).

We are a family group in every sense of the word. We must have 2 providers, but usually have 3 to 5 depending on what family member is helping out. We are all OK'd by the state. My youngest daughter (17) is OK's to be an assistant with supervision as she is under 18. Everyone else can be a full sub.

You do what you think you need to but if state were to come out before or after school, you would be out of ratio. What do you do when the school age children are out of school and need all day care?
