Default Difference Between A Home Daycare And A Home Preschool In CA?

I've been googling this and haven't had any luck. Does licensing differentiate between a daycare and a preschool in California? Any links for me?

Licensing has nothing to do with preschool aspects. They only run the rules and regulations of title 22, which are most inline with health and safety.

There are several programs in CA depending on the area that have in-home preschool aligned with head start, which is monitored by certain agencies. All agencies differ per county.
I am in CA and have a head start aligned in -home-preschool.
Sorry for all he typos. I'm on my phone.

In regards to in-home the owner can choose to run how they want. Babysitting, preschool, daycare there are no rules or laws that says you have to conduct any form of curriculum in your program.

It's really just a name. You can call it whatever you want. You can call it Sunshine Learning Academy Preschool and do zero lessons at all or you can call it Funtime Play Time and do nothing but worksheets lol. There is no regulation regarding the word preschool. You just have to follow licensing regs which cover care of the children.

Not sure what county you are in but where I live That would not stand true. We have actual state approved in home preschools in my county. It's aligned with head start. Vs just a daycare.
The name of your child care program will be your name, per state licensing. unless you file a DBA, you can't just name your daycare happy feet daycare. You will not be able to file a DBA as a preschool if you are not one.

Op is this what your looking for ?

Yes. Thank you.

The reason I ask is because I contemplating transitioning to more of a preschool environment (with actual learning + play) when my son reaches preschool age. I suppose I could unofficially do preschool activities in my daycare too. I know of SO MANY parents taking their children out of daycare to put them in a dedicated preschool program so I'm wondering about demand.

One of the things that I found in my area is that all of the preschools here are only half day. So I decided to do preschool with an all day program. I do have kids that come for Preschool only, but 85% are all day. I run Preschool in the morning and the rest of the day is daycare.

I have been fortunate to always be full with this type of program.
When my son was in the preschool he was my worst student. Lol.

Head Start is a state program. The state, or Head Start, doesn't own the word "preschool". You can call it a preschool if you want. You can't call it Head Start unless you are Head Start. I personally worked at 2 centers that called themselves preschools, in the name, and had absolutely zero affiliation with Head Start. I also know a family child care in town that is not affiliated with Head Start that calls herself preschool in the title of her business. The word "preschool" isn't regulated in any way. I'm certain... Unless there is some sort of new rule! Which, as we all know is always a possibility! lol

I run an in-home preschool program....
CA licensing does not look at the two differently when it is in-home.

Here is a link that describes the difference http://www.preschoolinspirations.com...and-preschool/

In california you are licensed for home childcare. period.

Whether or not you call it a preschool program is up to you. However, if you don't have the education to legally call yourself a preschool teacher you can't call your program a preschool. YOu can use other identifiers. I call mine a "Kindergarten Readiness Program".

Child care centers have different regs than homes.
