Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>DCG Telling Everyone "NO"

I have a 2 year old dcg and a 3 year old dcb who are constantly telling the younger children "No". The dcg especially tries to manage the babies by telling them "No" to everything... if they go play on the climber, play with the baby stroller, stand up by the easel.. whatever!

Or like today she brought a book from home (a board book so the babies wouldn't ruin it if they played with it) and immediately said "No" to the babies even though they were not even coming towards her or the book.

How do I put a stop to this?? It's driving me crazy!! I've tried telling her "____ you worry about ______ not the babies" And, I always correct her and say "They want to play on the climber too.. we share"

Any ideas?

Just nicely say share. That's it. Then show her what sharing is. Give it to another child and at the same time u can teach her to say your welcome.

If she won't share put the item up.

It's not just sharing though. This dcg can be playing in a totally different area of the playroom and she will yell across the room at one of the babies (both are 1 year old) if they do just about anything, for example, if she sees them stand up at art easel. Like she's trying to micromanage them.

Tell her no thank you. And redirect her to something else.

Rule #1 at my home: No hitting.
Rule #2 at my home: I am the ONLY person that is allowed to use the word NO, period.

It helps.

My older kiddos get into this "no" habit too... and honestly, it's because they hear me saying no ALL DAY LONG!

I just tell the kiddos who are trying to direct the younger kiddos that I am in charge and they need to worry about themselves - nobody else. I just drill this in... ALL DAY LONG!

I agree with what you are saying, but at the age of 2 do you think they could comprehend all of that??

Yes

I have a boy that at two is always telling everyone "no" and that doesn't bug me so much . What bugs me is all the others running to tell me: "Tyler told me NO". If they would stop he will stop. Tattling is not acceptable here.

Tyler was saying "no" when he started here and thinks it's cute cause his mom laughs when he talks back to her. I just calmly tell him "Be nice" and he stops.

what I mean was all of these words.....I am in charge and they need to worry about themselves - nobody else.

13 words vs 2 or 3 words...

just a few words... be nice is much more eaiser for a 2 yr old to understand than the above

One time I said that to a 4 year old girl and she looked sincerely confused and said "I'm not?"
