I hope I did this right....
I can't decide on which is better/more visible/attractive for an outdoor sign. It's only 18in by 24in, made of aluminum and will hang from a scroll type post.

Personally I prefer the green lettered one.

Everything seems to stand out more.

I like the green lettered one, but think it would look better with the owls from the last image on it.

Or tell me if you think the lettering would look better with a different picture. I'm so indecisive...

I also like the brighter letters and the last owls.

I suggest large letters and bright colors. I had a sign made not too long ago and it came out great, one thing I would do different is larger letters. It seems fine up close, but from a driving by point of view it would help if the were larger and brighter

I love the owls by the way!

I love the colors of the first one, but probably not vivid enough for a sign. I wonder how it would be with black lettering?
It would make an awesome wall hanging for your playroom though, with the last owls!

Ditto everyone regarding the green lettering. When I opened it, it popped out at me more than the other ones.

I agree! I do like the last sign the best, but the green lettered sign would stand out more.

Cute!

I like the first and last. The green clashes too much I think. Only change I might make is have nursery & preschool black as well in the last one.

This is my vote too. They are very cute!

I like the first one.

Is there any way to make the "nursery & preschool" bigger and maybe the Appointment/tour" smaller?

I would want the nursery and preschool to stand out a little more.

Yes everything is adjustable. These are drafts.

My hubby is a graphic artist- he says that the brown background is the best because the contrast between the background and the lettering will be the easiest to read from far away/going faster. But a brown sign won't stand out as much as a white or bright color would. If you go with a white one the letters need to be in a dark color and a thick font so they can be read quickly from the street.

I agree, the owls in the last one are the cutest! Like someone said above, I would make the "nursery and preschool" a bit larger and maybe a deeper color, like the darkest teal color on the biggest owl.

I'm a graphic designer, so here are some changes I would make, which incorporate what's called "white space" (leaving blank spaces around each element so as not to crowd things), and fixes some alignment issues:

I like the one second from left but the owls on the far right. You do have to have large lettering with colors that stand out. I've had 2 signs made for outside and never get the lettering large enough for drive-bys.

would take 3 rd sign's "OWL'S NEST" the 4th sighn's "nursery and preschool" the 4th signs owl picture and the 4th signs "tour by appointment only" and the 3rd signs phone number. [/u][/i]

Isn't it funny (maybe my computer) but I can hardly see the green lettering at all. I like the one EarlyStart did. Stand back from your designs and see which one jumps out and is clearest to read.

Love it!

The brown definately stands out better IMO. But the green lettering is hard to read. Maybe outline the green in white??

Oh and I agree that the "nursery & preschool" needs to be bigger. You could put the "nursery &" part under "Owl's" and "preschool" under "Nest" to allow more space for bigger font.

This is the final design I went with, for anyone interested to see it. Their art department will do some final tweaks to straighten/clean up, etc, but this is basically it! Thanks for all of your opinions and help with this!!

The Sign Chef. And that photo will not work. Sigh..... It has to be a vector image. I submitted another photo to see if it would work. I'll post updates.
