I just sent a 3.5 year old to the bathroom to take a "potty break." He was in their for a long time, so I checked on him. He had apparently already gone, and then proceeded to still pull down his pants and have a seat on the toilet. There was poop everywhere - on the walls, the toilet, his legs/back and hands, his shoes, all of his clothes....really just awesome.

He was incredibly upset, crying his little eyes out. I cleaned him as best I could, then called his mom to let her know. She is not working today, and has her baby at a doctor's appointment then is heading home until pick-up.

She proceeds to tell me that she has no problem if I want to give him a bath and get him clean.

OK, my daycare is in the basement. All of my bathtubs are on the second floor of my house. How on EARTH am I supposed to bathe her child?!! Not to mention, why on EARTH would I want her kid's poop all over my kid's bathtub? If she wants him to have a bath, she could stop here on her way HOME and give him a bath at his own house.

I can't wait until every child is gone for the day so I can scrub every part of my body. I feel sooooo nasty! Ick!

Oh no!! I feel bad for both of you. I know what you mean though I have been there.

I once had an infant I was bottle feeding and she proceeded to have an explosion and it ALL came out the back of her diaper into my lap

Hope you have a good weekend!! TGIF

I thought you were the one who had the poop accident.
Independent toileting has its drawbacks.

How thoughtful of her!
Hang in there! Days like today will just make your last day as a child care provider all the more sweet!

This sounds like my day today EXCEPT it is an almost 5-year-old that has done it last week AND this week. It's because he pretends to go potty while in the restroom and doesn't actually go until it's in his pants.
Is it vacation time yet, bunnyslippers?

Let DCM know that YOU will be taking a bath tonight to clean yourself up and will be doing so with an adult sippy cup full of wine.

Ewwww....Sorry, been there a few times myself. Not fun! My ODS pooped in his pants one day while I was asleep (don't remember why I was sleeping) and decided to play in it. He woke me up and said, "I poop stairs" So I go up the stairs and see a little poop on a couple steps. ok, we can clean that up. Then he says, "More" and points aroind the corner. And what I saw next will hauntme for the rest of my life. In the spare bedroom was what I can only decribe as a murder scene..but instead of blood, it was POOP EVERYWHERE! He did this more than once too (Not as bad as the first time) It's funny now, but it sure wasn't at the time

Sick! I would have actually sent the kid home. Especially since the mom isn't working. Until he has a bath/shower... he's not clean enough to be in my daycare/around my other kids. No way! Mom would have had to pick up within 15 mins at my place.

This brings so many painful memories of when my daughter was little.... Under a year old... Like maybe 9months or so.

Walking down the hall because I heard her wake up.... A familiar smell enters my nostrils.... I walk up to her door and pause... Thinking hmmm something isn't right....

I open her door to find her laughing hysterically and I start smiling thinking she simply had a dirty diaper.

Until I walk in front of the crib.... And find that she has removed her diaper....

Long story short we had to remove every screw and part and disinfect every toy in the crib, steam clean the carpet... Well you get the point...

It happened several times after that too..l.she thought she was quite cute....

Usually by the time I made it halfway down the hall I knew what was going on.

By the way... She did all that while on a baby monitor not making a single sound...

Children....they are so precious....

I have 2 diaper divers that do this and I would do the whole Nan backwards pajama thing but they are potty training kids so it's kinda hard to train them this way..

I am sorta at a loss what to do with kids like this and the potty training ones!
I guess just be on poop watch at all times!
as if we have nothing else we are doing...

I tried something like that years ago with my daughter... She would rip the seams to get it off...smart child.... Then I had to get creative.

Too bad it's not warm enough to get out the garden hose! You could put the child in a swimsuit, have them apply soap, and hose them down! Just kidding, kind of.

Oh, this mom also suggested, after I said no to the bath, that I let all the kids play with a hose outside. Nope, not going to happen.

She did pick up her son after she ran some errands - about 30 minutes ahead of her normal pick-up time.

I have just 29 more days to go....less than 300 hours....but who's counting?!??!

Happy Happy Friday!
