You told me that DCB was going to start preschool in the Fall, but you decided that he needs to start the Summer program, which is weeks away. Then, you want ME to potty-train him and let him wear underwear to my house these last few weeks, so we can "pretend" that he's trained for the new program. Got it. Just let me finish stitching D-O-O-R-M-A-T on my torso and get down on the porch, and I'll be right with you.
Adios, amigos and good luck with that!

Didn't you know that slapping on some underwear is all it takes to potty train weeks before preschool?
Oh dear. So, what will happen when he isn't potty trained? Will they be forced to unenroll?

How old is he?
If he's ready and the are diligent they can do it themselves at home in the next few weeks
IF he's ready
However if they're only potty training now just for preschool and he isn't ready then good luck to them!

Her sudden concern with it makes me think that must be the case. I'm so--let me get another cup of coffee--worried about it.

I love her logic too...Oh by the way, dcb is leaving a few months earlier than we said, so now you have an empty spot to fill much sooner, and by the way he needs to be potty trained before he starts in a few weeks, so could you get on that please?

And this is why my toddler rates extend to three years old or potty-trained.
Last fall the future preschool teacher of one of my dcks called ME to see if dck was fully trained. Um. He has parents, I'm pretty sure I've seen them.
And UM. No. He wears pullups every day and does not ever ask to use the bathroom.
Plus privacy rules and all that, but the parents gave me a heads-up that teacher would call, just not WHY

Well you know... Dad isn't getting PAID to watch his own son! It wouldn't be fair to ask something of someone who isn't being PAID!

omg, I have to laugh because I had the SAME exact scenario last summer… child was supposed to leave in Sept. then mom comes in with a summer schedule of him coming sporatically due to their vac days and because the preschool has a summer program he can do a few days a week, mom was "too busy" to work on potty training but he needed to be trained before he could start. I responded with "well good thing you have those 4 vacation days to train him before he starts there". Child was totally ready to train but I was so pissed that they basically wanted me to watch him for about 8 days over the whole summer (and use their 2 weeks deposit for it!!) when it was supposed to be 2 full months of income before he left.
