How many of you do outings with your dck? If so where do you go, and how many kids do you watch. I live close to so many fun things libraries, parks, beach, zoo, discovery center etc. I would love to be able to go out and about but really not sure if this is feasible or maybe a liability?

We leave my property 2-3 times a week, at least. We go to the library, errands at the bank and post office, to the playground, community events like plays and street fairs, and just walks around the neighborhood.

But, I live in a tiny rural town. We are able to walk everywhere. (To give you an idea, my town doesn't even have one stop light.)

We go all over- it's a big part of my program. I'm in a small town near a bigger city so we drive. I have 4-5 kids during the day. During the summer I go less places as I usually don't have space in my van because of my own kids and school agers. Parents provide a car seat just for daycare. Check with your insurance about driving the DCKs- I'm drawing a mental blank at the moment, but it was either covered or part of a rider (my insurance is nuts as it covers home, rental house, home daycare, and my workshop). Some companies won't even consider covering driving DCKs. As for places we go:
Library every other week
Zoo 2-3 times a year
Memorial garden (nature preserve) 2-3 times a year
Farmer's market every other week spring and fall
Park when we need a change of pace from our backyard
Pet store for food & bedding for classroom hamster
Farm store for feed for the chickens and ducks out back
Post office
Grocery store- I go get a lot of day care groceries with DCKs. Great chance to work in trying new things, nutrition, etc.

Thanks. My main concern I guess would be liability for driving dck. I can't imagine always being home tho. It's nice to know going out is an option.

I don't, but I didn't have a car that could fit everyone until now. I have three kids besides my own. I am also concerned about liability but I am thinking about doing a "field" trip once a month. My area is very busy car wise so we cannot walk anywhere.

This is us! We don't have a stop light. When my numbers allow we do go to Wal-Mart and other places. We have a higher accident coverage on our vehicle insurance. All my parents are thrilled we go on outings. It's a big part of my program.

We go on walks to the parkway quite often. It is beautiful by the river and there are several parks along the trail.

When my numbers are low I try to go to the zoo, museum etc. I need a bigger van!

I take my dcks (number depends on how many part timers I have) on excursions 1-2 times a year. I am closed on Fridays which is when I plan the excursion, so dcps must transport (I do not) to/from the location and must accompany and are responsible for their child at all times during the excursion. If there is an entrance/admission fee I cover one accompanying adult and the child plus provide a light lunch which I think is fair since the dcps cover their gas and need to take off for the day.

We go out at least once or twice a week. We go to the park, the science center, target (they LOVE target) etc. I only have 3. I provide the carseats because I have super paranoid about carseat safety and I know which seats fit the best in my car. I do have additional car insurance, but it's only about an extra $30 a month, which I find reasonable. In my opinion, it is worth that so that I'm not stuck in the house all day every day!

There's a playground nearby that I like to take the kids to when the weather is nice and the numbers are low. Unfortunately, it's easier to go on fun outings when dealing with fewer kids. Usually that and the library are my 2 go-tos. I try to do bigger excursions at least a few times a year (zoo, pumpkin patch, museums, etc.).

I choose not to transport kids.

The cost for the extra liability insurance is too much.

If we do any off site activities, it's usually by foot.

Also, as parent I would choose a provider that did not transport my children. Simply because of the risk/liability involved.

I don't mean that negatively towards any program that does do off site activities just that it is a point to be aware of as a provider that there are parents that have strong feelings about it.
