walking back from the park DCG (3yrs) randomly burst out in song...
DCG: "VIVA LAS VEGAS, VIVA LAS VEGAS, VIVA LAS VEGAS"
me: "wow that is a great song, do you like Las Vegas?"
DCG: "No! Chicago and Oregon!..." (then continued her singing viva las vegas)

*****
While building a blocks castle:
DCB(2.5): Knock it down?
DCG(3): "OK! ready, set, boom..." (blocks fall everywhere) "oh hell no..." (puts hands over her eyes) "we made a mess! (pause while DCB stares at her) "I'm losing my mind" (then proceeds to sing our clean up song and happily pick them up)

I had to address the "hell no" comment but the dramatics over the situation were so funny

Well.... I made a huge mistake, did I say huge? IDK what I was thinking but one of my toddlers ask me to use the potty, I said"great" let him try, but I did not bring diapers with me, did not do anything, my son looked at him and wanted to try also so I let him, nothing.. Took them to the room to put diapers on, did my son 1st and the other child despite me calling him like 10,000 times went to the living room ( just next to the door where I was putting diapers ) I called, and called , I could see him but I just wanted him to be with me... Anyways, in the process I saw this huge boogie in my baby's nose, it was driving me nuts so I tried to clean his nose, I got so focused on the boogie that I forgot that the other kid did not had a diaper and when he came to me I saw all this brown tracks on my IVORY color carpet!!!! I go out the room to check the damage and I see 2 big piles of poop and tracks all over the place, I screamed like Mmacaulay Culkin in Home Alone, GOSH what was I thinking? more than 5 years in DC environment and more than a year doing it at home and I let this happen? Anyways it was funny at the end of the day, it was not funny bathing 2 little boys, and making sure that they would not run over poopie areas and have them stay put while I cleaned the mess.

I'm new here and thought this would be a good place to jump in.

I bought the step 2 choo choo wagon (and the additional trailers) for my home daycare. I had it in the house on Monday morning as a surprise to the kids. My little daycare guy (3 1/2) walked in and said "Miss Jessica, you bought us a crazy train, are we going off the rails?" Too much Rockband (at home) I guess! LOL!!!

DCG 1 and DCG 2 (both 2yrs) were hopping around the room. DCG 1 was saying "Ribbit, Ribbit" and DCG 2 was saying what sounded more like "Rabbit, Rabbit". When asked what animal they were, DCG 1 said "a froggy" and DCG 2... clearly "a rabbit". :-D

We had one of those years ago. I think rabbits should start making noise, the children always ask what a rabbit says. lol

This is more laughing at myself...

The dcb's (3 5yo's, one 6 yo) were arguing over the lyrics to the "Dyno-mite" song. I had no clue what they were talking about until I looked it up online to settle the argument. It's pretty sad when these little ones are more up to date on music than I am! Guess that's what I get for listening more to British rock than pop!

I was dressing the almost 2 year old this morning (2 this week-when she came to me she was the age of her infant brother. How did she get to be 2 so suddenly?) and we were talking about her shirt. It's blue, it has sleeves, and then I asked her what was on front and she said, "Peace sign!" Well, um, yeah, but I was actually going for Bears since I had no idea she would know what a peace sign was. How do not yet 2 year olds recognize a peace sign?

She's really and truly 2 now. After her birthday this weekend, she came in with a new sentence. I put her in her chair at the table and opened the fridge to start lunch. Without even seeing what was in there, she said, (for the first time--she's usually a great eater), "That's yucky. I don't like it." I knew the 2's would be tough, but I didn't think it would all change overnight.

DCG I have had since birth just finished her first day of Kindy today. She got dropped off after school and sat down with her younger daycare friends and started chatting.

When one little guy (same age but not in Kindy this year) started telling her what he thought about a certain subject my Kindy DCG says "Why are you still thinking about stuff, school is over for today."

Later DCB says to same DCG, "Did you learn anything in school today?"

DCG says with a sigh, "No, they are making me come back again tomorrow."

Since my 2 year olds learned to toddle, I've had the crying quilt. The quilt has somehow migrated to the housekeeping center, but the spot is still kept empty. I'm down to one 2 year old now, and when she throws a fit or is having a bad time, I tell her to go sit until she feels better, and she will haul herself to that spot. It's the one thing she never argues about.

This morning, she was having a rough spell, sassy, whiny, just sort of a stinker. I had been running through the standard no, don't, stop, etc. Finally, she let out a huge sigh and said, "I'm gonna sit." She stood up and took herself to the corner and plopped down. She sat there a couple of minutes, then got up and went back to playing. I think she gave herself an attitude adjustment, because we had a splendid time the rest of the day.

I did a bad thing and laughed at a 2 year old who was being bad. But honestly, I couldn't help it. She was suppose to be on her mat going to sleep, but she was stalling. I was in the rocking chair with the baby. She said, "M, sit with me." I said I couldn't. Little louder, "M, sit here," patting the floor. Then, she stood up and in a very firm voice (and holding up the appropriate fingers), "1-2-3, sit your bottom on the floor." I almost fell out of the chair and had a huge coughing fit trying not to laugh, but it didn't work. I use 1-2-3 as a last effort when I'm busy with the baby and can't get there to stop or re-direct her. Her mom uses 3-2-1. It's about 98% successful. When she was small and climbing in chairs (thank goodness that stage is over!), I would tell her to put her bottom on the chair. I haven't used that in a long time, but she may hear it at home. A little later I got in the floor to change the baby's diaper, and she started "crying", you know the one I mean--loud cries full of heartbreak but no tears. She got up on her knees and stretched her arms out and in a pitiful voice said, "You making me cry" and crawled in my lap. So, I rocked her for a few minutes and she went to sleep.

Then I went and had a chocolate doughnut to reward myself for being such a mean, mean person.

Since we don't really have an area for jokes and this did make me laugh today so I will post it here;

While walking down the street one day a US senator is tragically hit by a truck and dies.

His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.

“Welcome to heaven,” says St. Peter. “Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we’re not sure what to do with you.”

“No problem, just let me in,” says the man. “Well, I’d like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we’ll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity.”

“Really, I’ve made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,” says the senator.

“I’m sorry, but we have our rules.”

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people. They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne. Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises…

The elevator goes up, and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him.

“Now it’s time to visit heaven.”

So, 24 hours pass with the senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.

“Well, then, you’ve spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity.”

The senator reflects for a minute, and then he answers: “Well, I would never have said it before; I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell.”

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. Now the doors of the elevator open and he’s in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above.

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder “I don’t understand,” stammers the senator. “Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there’s just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?”

The devil looks at him, smiles and says, “Yesterday we were campaigning. Today you voted.”

I know the feeling! I was walking out of the convience store the other night and slipped right in a puddle- Fell flat on my back! My husband caught sight of the guy helping me up but couldn't see me and thought to himself-What kind of idiot falls in a puddle right in front of the store. About then I stand up, he then yells across the parking lot-"Are you alright hon?" He was concerned once he saw the idiot was his wife!

My older daughter wanted to go to the store and see if the store had cameras on the parking lot so she could see it! She said "You know mom, the employees are sitting around the monitor watching it, rewinding it, watching it, rewinding it.

Seriously people-I could have been injured, anyone think of that-no, it was just hysterical my mom/wife fell in a puddle.

I need a reality show about my family/life-

We walked to the courthouse this morning for the Veteran's Day Parade. I had talked about parades all morning, (we have lots of parades in our playroom) and DCG (27 mo) was really excited. She almost danced the entire 3 blocks--giddy, absolutely giddy. We got there a little early and stopped across the street from where the crowd was gathered for the ceremony after the parade. I didn't think they would appreciate a giddy 2 yo and a 9 mo at a solemn moment. Anyway, I gave dcg a flag and showed her how to wave it. She spent the entire time jumping up and down, waving that flag, and yelling "Yea for the parade". It's a state highway, so 4 lanes of traffic. She had truck drivers, police officers, and most of the crowd wa-a-a-a-y across the street smiling and waving at her. Then the parade arrived-a firetruck with siren going, 1 veteran in a car, 3 people walking (I think maybe they were veterans) and the high school band. She was a little intimidated by the siren and it dampened her enthusiasm a little. I suspect she may be in the paper next week.

DCB: I'd really like to have snack but I have to go pee right now.
Me: Okay, we'll have snack after you go.
DCB: Yeah, sorry, us fellas are always wrecking plans by having to go pee.

DCB: Miss J, did you know that you are not allowed to say..(whispers) Oh my God?

DCB: Did you ALSO know that you are not allowed to say...(whispers) Oh my Goodness?
Me: Really? Then what can I say?

3 funnies today from my SA (8):

1. Builds a fort with sheets & the table.

Dck: "This is my fort. It's only for kids. NO ADULTS ALLOWED!"
Me: "Oh, okay." *start walking away*
Dck: "Hey! Where are you going? I said no ADULTS. You can come in!"

2. Sitting at the table having snack.

Dck: "Your mom is old."
Me: *raised eyebrows*
Dck: "I know that because she has lots of folds in her face. If you have lots of folds in your face it means you're old." *stares at me for a minute* "You're just a little bit old because you just have a little bit of folds in your face."

3. Baby wanted in the kitchen while I was preparing snack. Baby didn't get to come in the kitchen. Baby proceeded to show her dislike by throwing herself backwards onto the floor, arching her back, and screaming bloody murder.

School ager pokes her head around the corner, watches baby for a moment, then says-in a very nonchalent way-"impressive." Before turning her attention back to the book she was reading.

2.5 yr old DCG is getting ready to lay down for rest time.

She lays her plastic headband next to her napmat and in a very annoyed voice says "Stupid crown keeps falling off!"

She has always been my drama queen!

This was yesterday, but forgot to post.

We had baked sweet potatoes cut up with olive oil, rosemary and some various other seasonings. We've had this numerous times before.

Dcg: why are you feeding me grass?
Me:
Dcg: right here. why are you giving me grass?
Me: that's rosemary dear. it has a great flavor. try it.
Dcg: well, I'm not eating grass
Me: ok

For a very special friend-

This is actually for the week:

Reading about grown women fighting over cutting up grapes the right size and what types of jeans they wear and how much they cost!

Jay Leno/David Letterman should come on here to get some of their material-

Well grain of course! Too bad there is too much snow/ice covering it up or we would have it everyday

Dcb comes in underpants as I requested (no accidents in two weeks, at JUST 2!) and he tells everyone LOUDLY at circle time that "ME HAS A PUWSY IN MY UNNA PANS!" (say that outloud) I am trying very very hard NOT to laugh at him, and I asked him about 3-4 more times, always the same "PUWSY!" response. My dh came around the corner STARING at me and said "Did he just say what I think he said?" Finally he just yanked his pants down.

A DCB (3 years old) was very concerned about a child who had to stay home from daycare because they had a fever. He couldn't stop talking about it. I asked him if he'd ever had a fever before... he said "No, I only have the poops when I'm sick". HAHA cute

Well I Hope this does not offend no one but it is what happened and it did make me laugh...

While taking a 2.5 yr old to potty, as I took his diaper off he says "I have a big unit" that's how I was, but he keep on going "I have a big unit like daddy" So I asked him "What is your unit?" and he touches his wee wee and says "a big one like daddy" OMG That is something I would be embarrassed of sharing with mom so I won't.

My potty training 2yo dcb told me today "I can't pee right now but I have to go." "Why can't you go dcb?" gestures for me to come closer and whispers "I has a boner."

A DCG ran up to me on the playground yelling, "I found a peanut butterfly". I asked if it was chunky or smooth. She looked at me as if I was an idiot and said, "What difference does it make, do you plan on eating it"? I had to walk away because I couldn't hold the laugh in.

The Percy story made me spit water on my cat.

well it did not make me laugh that much, but I guess is kinda funny

I am getting ready for a trip, I have clothes out in my room and 2 blouses hanging from my bedroom door, I have them there because I don't want them to get wrinkled and I am going to place them on top of the rest of clothes in my bag. I already washed everything I have to get something in my room and here comes one of my little guys and grabs my blouse and blows his nose with it, needless to say that when I said "NOOO!!!" it was to late, already had boogies on it. Have to do more laundry now, should I laugh or cry? I guess laugh it out at the end of the day

I was reading White Rabbit's Color Book and talking about colors with my kids, asking them to name each of the colors, etc. Neither one of them were getting them right (apparantly we need to work on colors more). Finally they both got blue correct and dcg, 2.5 years old, yells "yay! We know our numbers!"

We planted seeds for our Mother's Day gifts today (fast growing flowers!) and the dcg keeps running over to the window sill to check on them. So I hear the pitter pat of little feet as she goes over then "MRS. K!!! THEY NOT UP YET!!" or "WHEN THEY COMING UP?!" Then a very loud SIGH followed by "Come up flower! come up!"

I am dying here!

Come up flower lol how precious. I just bought some seeds yesterday we are going to plant this week. Just some marigolds and impatiens. I went to do my Sunday shopping yesterday and after filling my buggy and waiting in the checkout line, the power goes out. CITY WIDE. About that time I got the auto notify about the power at my house being out. Very strange so I had to drive to the next city over. Long story short I spent too much money and I get to the checkout line and my son says "maybe the power will go out here too and we can go to another store" so i say "son, I just drove 20 miles to buy milk and filled up my buggy" so he responds " maybe this place can afford to pay the power bill"

Today my second shift mom comes to drop off. Everyone else is down for a nap so she sends dcg to the potty and off to the green room to her mat. Mom pulls out next weeks pay, and is holding it beside her hip. My daughters kitten flew by, grabbed some of the bills in his mouth and ran off with it..we both busted out in laughter....

DCM drops off DCB 11month old and mentions they are getting portraits taken later in the afternoon.
DCD comes to pickup,
he usually is covered in hair, big beard and long hair.
well, he got a hair cut and shaved his beard off.
DCB always gets happy with dad, not today.
DCB was sooo quiet when he saw dad.
it was cute amd funny.
dad tells DCB 'mom made me do it'

I have a new student who has never been in care before. He is not sure how he feels about nap time yet. He feels uncomfortable lying down on his cot, so he was sitting up today. His little head would droop down and then he would snap right back up to sitting up. Every time either myself or my assistant would try to lie him down he would just wake up. Eventually I left him be and he fell asleep totally folded in half while sitting up. I was scared to try to move him for fear he would wake up again. Luckily nap time was almost over. I can't imagine that he was comfortable. Hopefully he will realize that it is more comfortable to lie down for naptime soon.

This happened last night, but I didn't have time to post it.

We were outside at pick up. I was sitting in one of the Little Tykes chairs when dcm arrived. Dcg ran for a hug, then got down and ran to me. She put her arm around me and said, "Momma, this is my friend Sunni." Like I haven't seen her every day for 2 1/2 years.

I don't know what my dc girl has been eating at home, but she keeps having to use the bathroom (#2) it's not diarrhea, and she's getting to the bathroom so no biggie. Anyway, she feels she has to announce it, loudly, each time. Today while another parent was here dropping off she is yelling "MRS K, MRS K, I GO POOPIES!" And then it's "MRS K COME LOOK!! I WENT POOPIES!" The other parent and I were dying.

DCF is not here yet. It is 9:05. They are scheduled to arrive at 8:45.

DCM just sent me a text that says "We are running late".....as if I haven't already figured that out....

She is normally VERY punctual so the text just made me chuckle...
