Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>How Many Inches Of Padding For 42" Fall Height??
missy 02:21 PM 06-07-2014
I am trying to pick out climbers for my playground but can't find out how much protective surfacing is needed for them! (It is a hard surface right now) The guidelines start at like 4 ft. and up. But the climbers I am looking at are 24"-42" of fall height.

It depends on your state if licensed.

Here it is 9" deep of mulch, etc and it must come out 6 feet from every point of the play structure.

This is for structures waist high or above. Less than waist height doesn't require a fall zone. My licensor didn't give a measurement for waist high. I'll use my waist since I'm tall and my legs are long

In PA we don't need it for lower ones either....but we have to go by manufacturer's recommendations which are never lax so its a catch 22! Grass is fine but since I have pavement it looks like I am screwed--i can't find anyyyyything that will pass. And to turf even a small area is ridiculously $$$!

Our licensing purchased some of these for us years ago.
