Default Child Care or Childcare?

I've seen this loosely used either way. Which way do you prefer?

I like childcare, it seems more personal than Child Care.

In my ECE classes they refer to it as "Child Care" I haven't really seen "Childcare" but I have seen "Daycare" instead of "Day Care". It doesn't look right to the eye as one word to me, maybe if you hyphenated it ("Child-care") then it would work as one word.

I didn't vote but I think it is dependent on usage. I see "child care" as what you are providing and "childcare" as the place where it is provided.

example: I provide child care at *** Family Childcare.

I have daycare in my name. I know you have mentioned you don't like that term because you are caring for children not days. I look at it as care provided during the day. And I would say the same rule would apply for separating the two words. (although I say "I provide child care at my daycare.")

I use Childcare. But as pp pointed out it depends how you are using it.

Childcare is the place, but I provide child care

I agree. For my DC name I use Childcare but I also use child care "the child care provider ..." "Suzy Q's Childcare"
