I want to increase my rate in January for 4 of my families to get them up to what all my other families pay. It will however be a $25 a week increase per family. In your opinion do you think that is way to high of a jump?
Thanks!!

It would cost me those families.

I generally only go up in $5 increments per year on current families.

I am going up $45 per week for new families next year, myself, to support all the "quality improvements" I have had to make.

I agree... I think that's a rather large increase all at once.

I haven't raised rates over all for any current child, only new children coming in (even if they are a sibling to another child).

Another change I made instead of increasing the rates for current children, I made the move to contracted hours instead. Doing that created a rate increase only for those families that couldn't pick up before my closing time.

So give me an idea how I could do it if you will please. Right now they pay $100 a week and all other families pay $125 a week. The ones who pay $100 a week come 4 days a week.

How many days a week do the ones that pay $125 a week come? Are they 4 days also?

How many families are you wanting to increase rates for?
How many children?

Do you have a sibling discount? Do families pay when absent?

Do the 4 day a week families paying $100 stay from open to close?

Sorry for all the questions... but I might have some ideas..

No problem on the questions! I need input!

The others come 5 days a week

There are 3 families of 1 child each and 1 family with 2 children

I do give sibling discount and all families pay no matter if they are here or not

They all stay from open to close

I would raise your rates for sure then!
But I would do it so that it costs less the more days you use.
Second thing I would do is get rid of the sibling discount.
The ONLY way I would *maybe* agree to keep it, is if parents keep BOTH (or all) kids home when one of the kids is home or allow 5 day a week families to have a sibling discount. (I tend to keep perks for those families that use full time care verses allowing everyone to have the same benefits)

If you charge families that attend 5 days a week $125 that is $25 a day. Raise your rates for 4 days a week to $26 a day. (Right there is $4 per week)
Then I would cap the number of hours they use to 8.
If they need 9, it's another $1 (per day)
If they need 10 hours, it's another $2 (per day)

So if a 4 day a week family pays $26 a day, adds in $2 more for a 10 hour day. That immediately puts your all day/4 day a week kids at $112.

If you make it an ala`carte menu for rates, you always win...

Parents choose to pay more or they choose to pick up earlier. Either way, it's less work for you. More $ for the work you already do or less work.

Is that the kind of input you are looking for?
