Daycare and Taxes>Can I write off my Mac Mini for DC?
legomom922 03:04 PM 02-22-2011
We do not have cable because it is too expensive, so we bought a Mac Mini for like $700 which is a one time expense, and it will last yrs, where for the same amount, cable would have lasted only 7 months, so can I write that off as T/S% and I bought it in April before I went into business in June, as I had been gatering up things over a period of months. I mainly got it to stream netflix and to watch stuff online. I know this is a expensive item, so dont know if I can pull this one off or not.

If you are using this for your business (kids watching movies, etc.) then you can depreciate the t/s% of the cost and depreciate it over 5 years. You can use the additional 50% depreciation allowance and claim half of the depreciation in 2010.
